Full job description

About Hook Hook is a social music platform, backed by top-tier investors, building the next generation of music discovery, fan expression, and creator growth. Fans use Hook to legally remix, mashup, and reimagine the songs they love, then share their creations with the world. We work with artists, labels, and rights holders to turn passive listening into active participation. Role Overview We are looking for a Data Intern to work directly alongside our Data Insights lead, keeping our tracking accurate, our reporting current, and supporting analyses across the company. You will own day-to-day tracking QA and recurring reports, then take on analysis projects as you earn trust, working with our product, engineering, growth, marketing, business development, and content teams. This is a 10-20 hours per week role based at our TriBeCa, NYC office. What You’ll Do

  • Check that event tracking is implemented correctly across iOS and web, and flag gaps or broken events to engineering

  • Maintain tracking documentation, such as event specs and naming conventions

  • Build and maintain recurring reports and dashboards for product, growth, and leadership

  • Pull data to answer ad hoc questions, then summarize findings and caveats in plain language

  • Support analyses for Marketing, Business Development, Content, and Product, spanning user behavior, conversion and acquisition, content management, and industry-wide trends

Required Skills & Experience

  • Currently a senior undergraduate or a master’s student

  • Strong analytical thinking

  • Detail-oriented, with the ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines

  • Clear written communication, including the ability to explain results to non-technical teammates

  • Self-starter who thrives in a fast-paced, entrepreneurial environment

Preferred Skills & Experience

  • Working knowledge of SQL or another way of querying and analyzing data (Python or advanced Excel/Sheets)

  • A previous analytics or data internship

  • Familiarity with event tracking, attribution, or A/B testing concepts

  • Experience working at an early-stage startup

  • Passion for music and technology. Music industry experience is not required.

Why This Role Matters This role will help make sure Hook’s teams are working from numbers they can trust as the consumer app scales, and will shape how we track, report, and analyze across the company. Compensation This internship is unpaid and available for school credit. The internship offers the opportunity for exceptional interns to grow into a longer-term or full-time role at Hook.

Gain hands-on experience at the intersection of music, data, and creativity—and help shape the future of how fans connect with music.
