Job Title: Truss Builder Job Description
The Truss Builder assembles floor and roof trusses in a production plant that takes pride in high-quality workmanship. This role involves hands-on construction tasks using both manual and power tools, working closely with a small team at truss tables to build, assemble, and prepare trusses for shipment. The position is well suited for individuals with a strong work ethic, a positive attitude, and an interest in learning construction and manufacturing processes. Prior experience is helpful but not strictly required, as many tasks can be taught on the job.
Responsibilities

Feed boards into automated saws and safely retrieve cut boards from the outfeed side.

Sort boards accurately based on truss numbers and project numbers to ensure correct assembly.

Manually lift and position boards onto truss tables in preparation for assembly.

Read and interpret blueprints to determine plate sizes and placement, with training provided as needed.

Use a hammer to install joint plates securely onto truss boards.

Operate nailers and other power tools to fasten boards together according to specifications.

Band completed trusses together in the yard to prepare them for shipping.

Work collaboratively with 23 other builders at a truss table to construct floor and roof trusses.

Use a tape measure to verify dimensions and ensure trusses meet design and quality standards.

Follow established manufacturing processes and safety procedures throughout all tasks.
Essential Skills

Ability to perform general labor tasks in a construction or manufacturing setting.

Comfort using hand tools such as hammers and tape measures.

Ability to safely operate power tools, including nailers.

Basic math skills to measure, mark, and verify dimensions.

Willingness and ability to learn to read and interpret blueprints.

Ability to work on hands and knees and climb onto truss tables approximately four feet tall.

Reliability, strong work ethic, and a positive, team-oriented attitude.
Additional Skills & Qualifications

Experience in construction, carpentry, or production work is preferred but not required.

Ability to read and interpret a tape measure is highly preferred, with training available for motivated candidates.

Familiarity with manufacturing processes in a plant environment is an asset.

Previous experience building floor or roof trusses is a plus.

Comfort working with automated saws and other production equipment is beneficial.

Work Environment
The role is based in a clean, well-lit truss manufacturing plant. Noise levels are generally moderate, with intermittent sounds from nail guns and other tools, and some employees use personal listening devices while working when appropriate. Work is performed on and around truss tables, including climbing onto tables approximately four feet high and working on hands and knees as needed to assemble trusses. The environment is team-oriented, with small crews working together at each truss table, and production processes are supported by automated saws, hand tools, and power tools.

Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $45000.00 - $50000.00/yr.
Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
