Job Duties

POSITION DESCRIPTION

The Construction Operations Product Manager (PrM) acts as the business-side partner of McGough's Construction Operations digital ecosystem, ensuring technology effectively supports construction processes across project planning, document management, preconstruction, estimating, scheduling, safety, quality, execution, field operations, BIM/VDC, and closeout.

The PrM partners with Construction Operations leadership, project teams, IT/IS, Business Analysts, Application Specialists, Program Management, and peer PrMs to define, prioritize, deliver, and continuously improve digital capabilities. The PrM owns the roadmap and business outcomes for Construction Operations applications and represents Operations when workflows intersect with Financials, Marketing and Communications, Business Intelligence, or Enterprise Applications.

A key responsibility is understanding how work is actually performed and the digital systems need to support. The PrM engages directly with project teams to identify system friction, workarounds, adoption challenges, and emerging needs, distinguishing between process, technology, configuration, integration, training, and change-management issues. Business leaders define the process and desired outcomes; the PrM translates that vision into product strategy, roadmap priorities, requirements, enablement, and measurable digital improvements.

QUALIFICATIONS

Required:

7+ years of experience in product management, construction technology, enterprise applications, or related digital product roles.

Demonstrated experience defining and managing product roadmaps aligned with business priorities and measurable outcomes.

Proven ability to translate business processes and operational needs into digital requirements and product capabilities.

Experience leading cross-functional initiatives involving business leaders, IT/IS, Business Analysts, Application Specialists, and external partners.

Strong understanding of enterprise application ecosystems, integrations, dependencies, and downstream impacts.

Strong communication, stakeholder engagement, and organizational influence skills.

Preferred:

Experience in commercial construction, including project management, field operations, preconstruction, or construction technology.

Strong working knowledge of Procore and its use across project execution workflows

Experience with construction technologies such as P6, CostX, HammerTech, Textura, VDC applications, reality capture, or similar platforms.

Working knowledge of estimating, scheduling, document control, safety, quality, project controls, and closeout processes.

Familiarity with construction ERP and financial workflows, including CMiC or similar platforms, and the operational processes they support.

Experience with digital transformation, organizational change, and technology adoption within construction or project-based organizations.

Skills:

Strategic thinker with tactical execution capability, able to define and defend investment priorities.

Construction systems thinking with an understanding of how applications support workflows across the project lifecycle.

Strong discovery and facilitation skills, including the ability to identify root causes behind system friction, workarounds, and adoption challenges.

Ability to translate business vision into product priorities, requirements, roadmap decisions, and measurable outcomes.

Comfort working directly with project teams, business leaders, technical teams, and vendors in office and jobsite environments.

Technical fluency in evaluating application capabilities, integrations, configuration options, and implementation tradeoffs

Clear, confident communication with the ability to influence stakeholders across multiple levels of the organization.

OFFICE AND TRAVEL:

Position is based at McGough's headquarters in Roseville, MN.

Travel is expected to be up to 20% for various training or team building activities. Additional travel to various national office locations may be required as determined by the individual and their manager.

RESPONSIBILITIES AND TASKS:

Define, maintain, and communicate the Construction Operations product roadmap aligned with Operations priorities and enterprise digital strategy.

Translate business strategy and operational priorities into product capabilities, investment needs, and delivery priorities.

Prioritize enhancements, new capabilities, and product investments based on business value, user impact, risk, effort, and strategic fit.

Serve as the Construction Operations PrM when workflows intersect with Financials, Business Intelligence, Marketing and Communications, Enterprise Applications, and other product domains.

Evaluate application capabilities, overlap, and emerging technologies to identify opportunities to simplify and strengthen the Construction Operations ecosystem.

Establish product goals, success measures, and investment rationale in partnership with business and technology leadership

Business Discovery and Process Enablement:

Engage directly with estimators, project teams, field leaders, and Operations leadership to understand how work is actually performed.

Identify root causes behind system friction, workarounds, inconsistent use, and operational pain points before recommending solutions.

Maintain working knowledge of workflows across estimating, preconstruction, planning, project execution, scheduling, field operations, safety, quality, BIM/VDC, and closeout.

Partner with Business Analysts to translate business-owned processes and desired outcomes into clear requirements, workflows, and product capabilities.

Represent Construction Operations requirements and operational impacts when business processes extend into applications owned by other PrMs.

Validate proposed capabilities through observation, workshops, pilots, jobsite engagement, and direct user feedback.

Product Enablement & Capability Development:

Define what successful use of Construction Operations technologies looks like across key project and operational user groups.

Develop product enablement strategies for new capabilities, enhancements, and changes to existing workflows.

Partner with Application Specialists, Business Analysts, vendors, and business champions to develop training, guidance, and support resources.

Participate directly in demonstrations, pilots, office hours, and targeted training where hands-on PrM involvement improves adoption.

Develop internal champions and feedback networks that strengthen product knowledge and capability across project teams.

Monitor adoption and user proficiency and adjust enablement approaches when expected outcomes are not being achieved.

Operational Excellence:

Champion Construction Operations-specific digital delivery standards and documentation practices across the product ecosystem.
