Job Description

Insight Global is seeking a Systems Engineer to join an engineering team in Chelmsford, MA. This individual will be responsible for designing Building Automation Systems (BAS) for commercial buildings, data centers, and pharmaceutical facilities while supporting projects from initial design through commissioning. The ideal candidate has experience with HVAC controls, BAS/BMS technologies, BACnet communication protocols, and engineering design and enjoys collaborating with project teams to develop innovative automation solutions. This role partners closely with software engineers, project managers, technicians, and customers to create system designs, network diagrams, control schematics, and project documentation. This is a fully onsite opportunity for a motivated team player who is eager to learn and build a long-term career in building automation.

Compensation: $34/hr - $45/hr. Exact compensation may vary based on several factors, including skills, experience, and education. Employees in this role will enjoy a comprehensive benefits package starting on day one of employment, including options for medical, dental, and vision insurance. Eligibility to enroll in the 401(k) retirement plan begins after 90 days of employment. Additionally, employees in this role will have access to paid sick leave and other paid time off benefits as required under the applicable law of the worksite location.

Skills and Requirements

Must-Haves

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or related Engineering discipline

  • 2+ years of Building Automation Systems (BAS) or Building Management Systems (BMS) experience

  • Knowledge of HVAC systems and controls

  • Experience with BACnet or other building automation communication protocols

  • Ability to read and interpret MEP drawings and specifications

  • Experience creating engineering documentation, diagrams, or system designs

  • Strong communication skills and ability to work within a team environment

  • Willingness to work onsite 5 days per week in Chelmsford, MA Plusses

  • Experience with Siemens, Delta Controls, Tridium Niagara, Allen-Bradley, or Rockwell platforms

  • BAS or BAM programming experience

  • Construction or MEP engineering background

  • Experience supporting data center or pharmaceutical facility projects

  • Microsoft Visio experience

  • Modbus, LonWorks, or additional building automation protocol experience

Day-to-Day

  • Design BAS solutions for commercial, pharmaceutical, and data center projects
  • Develop network diagrams, control drawings, sequences of operation, and engineering packages
  • Review project plans, specifications, and customer requirements
  • Support installation, commissioning, and service teams throughout project execution
  • Create graphics, documentation, and system layouts
  • Troubleshoot BAS integration and communication issues
  • Collaborate with software engineers, project managers, and field technicians
  • Participate in project meetings and customer reviews
  • Assist with equipment selection and bill of material development
  • Support project turnover and as-built documentation activities
