Laborer-knowledge of euipment, digging trenches, compacting earth, and backfilling holes, operating and tending machinery and heavy equipment, and following instructions from supervisors and implementing construction plans. general Knowledge of plumbing and electrical work. - Street and infrastructure maintenance: Repairing and maintaining streets, sidewalks, curbs, and drainage systems. This can include tasks like patching asphalt, pouring concrete, and cleaning ditches. - Groundskeeping: Mowing lawns, trimming trees and shrubs, planting flowers, and cleaning up debris from public spaces like parks and rights-of-way. - Equipment operation: Operating various machinery, including light and heavy equipment such as backhoes, excavators, jackhammers, mowers, and snowplows. - Signage and traffic control: Installing, repairing, and maintaining street signs. Directing traffic at work sites using cones and barricades. - Utilities assistance: Assisting with water and sewer line maintenance, which can involve excavating, repairing, and clearing blockages. - Vehicle and equipment maintenance: Performing routine cleaning and basic maintenance on department vehicles and equipment.
