Position Details

General Statement

Student Health Services ( SHS ) provides comprehensive healthcare, dental care, and pharmacy services to MSU students. SHS is part of Student Wellness within the Division of Student Success. This position will report to the Nurse Manager and operates in the Student Wellness Center, which is home to Campus Recreation, Student Health Services, and Counseling and Psychological Services, providing an integrated, holistic model of student health and wellbeing at MSU .

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Provide a variety of treatments and procedures including, but not limited to: administering therapeutic injections, performing wart treatments, wound care, suture removal, , ear lavage, spirometry and peak flow assessments, assisting with minor surgery, obtain 12-lead electrocardiograms (EKGs) , and fitting orthopedic devices/crutches

  • Provide a variety of preventative health care services including immunization administration and consultation for travel abroad

  • Provide discharge planning and patient education

  • Fulfill duties related to Student Health Services committee assignments

  • Perform administrative duties such as scheduling follow-up appointments, charting in electronic health record, contacting patients with lab results and other follow-up needs

  • Follow standing order RN protocols that include RN lead Triage assessment and RN managed uncomplicated UTI treatment.

Required Qualifications – Experience, Education, Knowledge & Skills

  • Bachelor’s degree in nursing from an accredited school of nursing.

  • Current license to practice as a Registered Nurse in Montana.

  • Recent professional nursing experience in a primary care setting such as primary care medical offices, emergency medical facilities, urgent care centers, student health services, or public health departments.

  • Demonstrated experience with using diagnostic equipment such as EKG and spirometry .

  • Current Basic Life Support ( BLS ) certification.

  1. Experience working in both primary care and urgent care settings.

  • Record of providing excellent nursing care.
