Job Description

General Summary

Processes a variety of financial and accounting transactions. Maintains accurate bookkeeping records and reporting statistics. Provides financial support and works collaboratively with financial & operational management in financial oversight which include, but are not limited to, general accounting, support for financial analysis, planning, budgeting, performance improvement, development of other fiscal management processes to support operations leadership with management of their fiscal performance.

Essential Functions:

  • Prepares and posts recurring and general journal entries, ensuring they are posted timely and accurately. These entries may require a more in-depth understanding of US GAAP.

  • Assists in first level review of journal entries.

  • Assists in review of account reconciliations ensuring compliance with WellSpan policies, procedures, and documentation requirements.

  • Coordinates the development of processes and documentation to reconcile data between ERP and systems maintained outside of ERP.

  • Assists in overseeing the completion of standard month-end and AD-HOC processes.

  • Performs job responsibilities in accordance with policies and procedures to ensure that the internal control structure is maintained. Ensures staff members are operating within policies and procedures and facilitates the learning and understanding of those processes.

  • Assists independent auditors with interim and year-end audit(s), explaining variances, pull supporting documentation, walkthrough procedures, etc.

  • Assists in preparation of federal, state, and other regulatory reports.

  • Supports monthly analysis of financial statement budget variances. Able to accurately analyze, interpret and articulate financial statements and entity performance.

  • May participate in operations meetings and represent finance during ongoing operations discussions.

  • Analyzes operation of system, prepares recommendations and documentation to create and update fiscal services and other related policies and procedures with respect to operating systems.

  • Assists in compiling data for annual budget for the operating unit(s) and may assist in preparing budget deliverables

  • Under the guidance of the Corporate Controller, prepares technical accounting memos supporting WellSpan's stance on complex transactions and/or accounting standards updates.

  • May conduct or assist in presentation of fiscal education sessions.

  • Provides ad-hoc financial analysis and reports to Management as requested.

  • Maintains professional growth and development through seminars, workshops, and professional affiliations to keep abreast of latest trends in field of expertise.

Qualifications

Minimum Education:

  • Bachelors Degree Required

  • Masters Degree MBA Preferred

Work Experience:

  • 3 years Relevant experience. Required

Licenses:

  • Certified Public Accountant Upon Hire Preferred

Courses and Training:

  • Accounting/finance Upon Hire Required

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and computer skills.

  • Analytical skills.

  • Able to work well in a team.
