Full job description

Ellis Medicine is seeking a Structural Heart Cardiologist to join our growing cardiovascular team in Schenectady, New York. This is an excellent opportunity for a Structural Heart Cardiologist who is looking to join an established health system and provide comprehensive, high-quality cardiovascular care to patients throughout the Capital Region.

The ideal candidate is a board-certified or board-eligible Structural Heart Cardiologist who is committed to patient-centered care and enjoys working collaboratively with interventional cardiologists, cardiothoracic surgeons, non-invasive cardiologists, electrophysiologists, advanced practice providers, and other specialists.

Position Highlights

  • Collaborative relationships with interventional cardiology, cardiothoracic surgery, non-invasive cardiology, electrophysiology, and other specialty services

Clinical Responsibilities

The Structural Heart Cardiologist will provide evaluation and management of patients with a broad range of structural and valvular heart conditions, including:

  • Aortic stenosis

  • Mitral valve disease

  • Tricuspid valve disease

  • Structural heart disease

  • Heart failure related to valvular disease

  • Congenital and acquired structural heart conditions

  • Other complex structural and valvular cardiovascular conditions

Procedural responsibilities may include:

  • Transcatheter aortic valve replacement (TAVR)

  • Transcatheter mitral and/or tricuspid interventions, as applicable

  • Transcatheter edge-to-edge repair (TEER)

  • Structural heart catheter-based interventions

  • Comprehensive structural heart evaluations

  • Advanced cardiac imaging interpretation and procedural planning

  • Participation in multidisciplinary Heart Team conferences

  • Collaboration with cardiothoracic surgery and interventional cardiology

Additional responsibilities may include:

  • Comprehensive outpatient structural heart consultations and follow-up care

  • Inpatient structural heart consultation and management

  • Pre- and post-procedure patient management

  • Collaboration with referring physicians and multidisciplinary care teams

  • Participation in shared cardiology call responsibilities

  • Participation in quality improvement and patient safety initiatives

  • Development and advancement of the structural heart program

Qualifications

  • Board Certified or Board Eligible in Cardiovascular Disease and Structural Heart Interventional Cardiology

  • Licensed (or eligible) to practice in New York State

  • Strong clinical, communication, and interpersonal skills

  • Commitment to compassionate, patient-centered care

Recruitment Package

Ellis Medicine offers a competitive recruitment package designed to support your professional and personal transition to our organization, including:

  • Guaranteed base salary of $700,000–$800,000 for the first two years

  • Following the initial two-year guaranteed base period, the Structural Heart Cardiologist will have the opportunity to participate in the Cardiology Pool Model, in which RVU and quality incentive compensation models are shared among eligible pool members. Entry into the Pool Model is based on meeting an annual RVU threshold

  • The posted salary reflects the starting range of total compensation and does not include productivity bonuses incentives related to quality and performance, extra shift incentives, and other forms of cash compensation as applicable to the position. Please note that this salary range is provided in accordance with State law and is subject to variation due to the factors noted above.

  • $25,000 starting bonus

  • Relocation assistance up to $20,000

  • CME allowance and dedicated CME time
