  • Interpret monthly, quarterly, and annual results from a financial perspective and flag business issues early.

SOX compliance and internal controls

  • Own the documentation and operation of SOX key controls for assigned markets.

  • Lead the self-testing cycle, remediate control deficiencies, and keep evidence audit-ready.

  • Serve as the market contact for internal and external auditors, including walkthroughs, sample requests, and follow-up on findings.

  • Ensure compliant use of common systems and adherence to company policies, delegation of authority, and segregation of duties.

Account reconciliations and balance sheet integrity

  • Prepare and review balance sheet account reconciliations, and resolve reconciling items promptly.

  • Review and clear suspense and clearing accounts, accruals, prepaid items, and intercompany balances.

  • Oversee inventory accounting, including aggregate stockpile surveys and book-to-physical adjustments, raw materials (cement, aggregates, liquid asphalt, admixtures, RAP), parts, and supplies.

  • Review reserves (inventory obsolescence, bad debt, warranty) and working capital, including receivables, retainage, and payables.

  • Support fixed asset accounting for plants, mobile equipment, fleet, and quarry assets, including capital project tracking and depletion.

Business partnering and analysis

  • Provide financial support and analysis to general managers and plant & operations leaders.

  • Analyze key drivers: volumes (tons, cubic yards), average selling price, cost per ton/yard, plant utilization, delivery and haul costs, raw material and energy costs, and margin by product line.

  • Support construction and paving business reporting, including job costing, percentage-of-completion revenue recognition, backlog, and over/under billings (WIP schedule).

  • Link KPIs directly to financial reporting and drive continuous improvement in financial processes.
