Full job description

Overview

We are seeking an experienced Desktop Support Technician to provide hands-on technical support for end users in a Microsoft-based environment. This role is responsible for hardware and software support, workstation deployments, troubleshooting, user training, and technology-related project work. The ideal candidate possesses strong technical knowledge, exceptional customer service skills, and the ability to support employees at all levels of the organization.

Key ResponsibilitiesEnd User Support

  • Provide onsite and remote support for desktop computers, laptops, printers, mobile devices, and peripheral equipment.

  • Troubleshoot and resolve hardware, software, operating system, and connectivity issues in a timely manner.

  • Support Microsoft Windows 11 environments and Microsoft 365 applications, including Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Teams, and SharePoint.

  • Diagnose and repair PC hardware issues and coordinate hardware replacements when necessary.

  • Document incidents, service requests, and solutions within the organization's ticketing system.

Technology Deployment & Administration

  • Deploy, configure, and support desktops, laptops, mobile devices, and related technology equipment.

  • Perform software installations, upgrades, patching, and system updates.

  • Assist with workstation imaging, equipment setup, and lifecycle management initiatives.

  • Support office technology infrastructure, including cabling, workstation installations, and peripheral connectivity.

  • Maintain knowledge of emerging technologies and recommend improvements to enhance end-user productivity.

Customer Service & Collaboration

  • Deliver exceptional customer service while meeting service-level commitments and project deadlines.

  • Build strong working relationships with business partners, vendors, and employees across all levels of the organization.

  • Communicate technical concepts effectively to non-technical users.

  • Collaborate with internal teams to resolve technical issues and share support best practices.

  • Provide technical guidance and support during small technology projects and office technology initiatives.

Troubleshooting & Problem Resolution

  • Analyze, troubleshoot, and resolve complex technical issues affecting end-user computing environments.

  • Perform root cause analysis and implement corrective actions to prevent recurring issues.

  • Support hardware repairs, software troubleshooting, user account issues, and device-related incidents.

  • Monitor and maintain the stability, security, and performance of end-user systems.

Required Qualifications

  • 3+ years of experience in desktop support, technical support, or IT support environments.

  • Strong knowledge of Microsoft Windows 11 and Microsoft 365 applications.

  • Experience with PC hardware deployment, troubleshooting, repair, and replacement.

  • Proven ability to diagnose and resolve hardware, software, and connectivity issues.

  • Excellent customer service, communication, and interpersonal skills.

  • Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving abilities.

  • Ability to manage multiple priorities while meeting deadlines.

  • Experience supporting users in a professional business environment.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience supporting enterprise desktop environments.

  • Familiarity with endpoint deployment and device lifecycle management.

  • Understanding of current and emerging workplace technologies.

  • Experience assisting with small-scale IT projects and technology implementations.

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to lift and move computer equipment weighing up to 40 pounds.

  • Ability to perform physical installation tasks, including stooping, kneeling, crawling, reaching, and running cabling when required.

Job Type & Location

This is a Contract position based out of Gulfport, MS.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $22.00 - $26.00/hr.

Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
