Full job description

Mem0 is building the memory layer for AI agents. Think long-term memory that enables AI to remember conversations, learn from interactions, and build context over time. We're already powering millions of AI interactions for enterprise customers and an open-source community of 150,000+ developers. We're a Y Combinator-backed company that has raised a $24M Seed + Series A from top-tier investors. This is a full-time, onsite role based in San Francisco, CA. You'll work closely with a highly technical team in person, where rapid collaboration and fast iteration are part of our culture. This position reports directly to the CTO, making it a highly visible role with significant influence on product direction, engineering execution, and the future of the Mem0 platform. Role Summary You will build the product surface of the Mem0 Platform, our memory infrastructure powering the next generation of AI agents. You'll own features end to end across Next.js and Python, shipping quickly without compromising code quality, performance, or reliability. You'll partner closely with design, research, customers, and leadership to transform real-world problems into elegant, scalable product experiences. This is an opportunity for an engineer who thrives on ownership, enjoys building across the stack, and wants to have an outsized impact on both the product and the company. What You'll Do

  • Ship end-to-end features: Design APIs, build intuitive UIs, implement backend services, own data models, and deploy production-ready software.
  • Build for scale and speed: Optimize latency, caching, database queries, and application performance to deliver fast, reliable user experiences.
  • Own quality: Write comprehensive tests, maintain strong typing and linting standards, participate in thoughtful code reviews, and keep the codebase clean and maintainable.
  • Collaborate deeply: Work closely with Design to craft exceptional UX, partner with Research to integrate cutting-edge memory capabilities, and engage directly with customers to refine requirements.
  • Operate what you build: Implement observability, monitor production systems, troubleshoot issues, and continuously improve reliability and performance.
  • Lead with product sense: Make thoughtful technical and product tradeoffs, prioritize effectively, and iterate based on user feedback and data.
  • Go beyond your lane: Unblock teammates, embrace new technologies, and do whatever it takes to deliver exceptional outcomes.

What You'll Bring

  • 5+ years of experience building and shipping production-grade full-stack applications at scale.
  • Strong proficiency in Python and modern web application architecture.
  • Experience building with Next.js, React, REST APIs, PostgreSQL, Redis, background job systems, and modern backend frameworks.
  • Demonstrated track record of owning features end to end, from technical design through deployment and post-launch iteration.
  • Strong engineering fundamentals with a focus on testing, CI/CD, type safety, maintainability, and code quality.
  • Experience operating production systems using logging, metrics, tracing, and monitoring tools while meeting low-latency performance requirements.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills with the ability to work cross-functionally across engineering, design, research, and go-to-market teams.
  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science or a related technical field, or equivalent coursework and practical experience.

Nice to Have

  • Experience building AI-native products using LLMs, RAG, embeddings, or vector databases.
  • Familiarity with vLLM, model serving, or lightweight ML infrastructure.
  • Experience building real-time applications using streaming, WebSockets, Server Actions, background jobs, or large-scale file processing.
  • Infrastructure experience with Docker, Kubernetes, IaC, AWS, GCP, or Vercel.
  • Strong product intuition with attention to UI polish, accessibility, design systems, and frontend performance.
  • Understanding of security and privacy best practices, including PII handling and audit logging.

Our Culture

  • Office-first collaboration - We're an in-person team based in San Francisco. Hallway conversations, whiteboard sessions, and spontaneous collaboration help us move faster and build better products than remote meetings alone.
  • Velocity with craftsmanship - We move quickly without sacrificing engineering excellence. Every system we build should be fast, reliable, scalable, and thoughtfully designed.
  • Extreme ownership - Everyone at Mem0 is a builder-owner. If you see a problem or opportunity, you're empowered to solve it. Titles matter less than impact.
  • High bar, high trust - We hire exceptional people, give them autonomy, and hold ourselves to a high engineering standard. We challenge ideas, review code thoughtfully, and celebrate wins together.
  • Data-driven, not ego-driven - The best ideas win regardless of where they come from. We rely on data, customer feedback, and thoughtful experimentation to guide decisions.
