Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. (Other duties may be assigned.) Works with center staff to ensure the environment is safe and healthy for children.\ Works with center staff to ensure that the classroom and childrens restrooms are kept clean and sanitary.\ Participates in games, reads to children, and teaches them simple painting, drawing, pre-literacy activities, songs, and finger-plays in both the indoor and outdoor learning environment.\ Assists with individual and group activities to stimulate growth in language, social, and motor skills such as learning to listen to instructions, playing with others, and using play equipment.\ Assists with children in eating, resting, and toileting.\ Works with staff to carry out all health and safety related activities with children in tooth brushing, daily health checks, handwashing, teaching safe and health practices through curriculum and safety drills.\ Works with staff to gather and documents in-kind.\ Assists in serving meals and snacks to children and participates in family-style dining in Head Start classrooms and closely supervises or feeds children in Early Head Start.\ Uses positive guidance techniques to guide childrens behavior.\ Will comply with all regulations pertaining to the reporting of child abuse and neglect.\ Prioritize and plan work activities; Uses time efficiently; Plans for additional resources; Sets goals and objectives.\ Approaches others in a tactful manner; Reacts well under pressure; Treats others with respect and consideration regardless of their status or position; Accepts responsibility for own actions; Follows through on commitments.\ Demonstrates accuracy and thoroughness; Looks for ways to improve and promote quality; Monitors own work to ensure quality.\ Completes work in a timely manner.\ Observes safety and security procedures; Reports potentially unsafe conditions; Uses equipment and materials properly.\ Adapts to changes in the work environment.\ Follows instructions, responds to management direction; Takes responsibility for own actions; Keeps commitments; Completes tasks on time or notifies appropriate person with an alternate plan.\ Asks for and offers help when needed.\ Meets challenges with resourcefulness; Generates suggestions for improving work; Develops innovative approaches and ideas.\ Participate in cross-training initiatives for various roles to promote a well-rounded understanding of departmental functions.\ Please note this job description is not designed to cover or contain a comprehensive listing of activities, duties, or responsibilities that are required of the employee for this job.
