Job Title: Quality Assurance Assistant

Job Description

The Quality Assurance Assistant supports the quality assurance and quality control team by learning to review, verify, and assemble laboratory analytical data into accurate, client-ready reports. This role focuses on organizing documentation, preparing and distributing reports, and maintaining precise records to ensure high standards of data integrity and regulatory compliance within an environmental testing laboratory.

Responsibilities

  • Report to the Quality Assurance and Quality Control Supervisor and work closely with the quality assurance and quality control team to reconcile reporting.

  • Learn to review, verify, and assemble laboratory analytical data into finalized reports for organics, metals, and wet chemistry testing groups.

  • Organize and maintain project files, report packages, and supporting documentation in an accurate and accessible manner.

  • Scan, compile, and prepare reports for client distribution in both electronic and physical formats.

  • Coordinate the electronic and physical delivery of reports and documents to clients, ensuring timely and accurate distribution.

  • Maintain detailed and accurate client mailing and distribution records to support reliable communication and service.

  • Provide administrative support to the quality assurance and quality control team, including data entry and document processing.

  • Support the Laboratory Director with administrative and reporting-related tasks as needed.

  • Adhere to all company safety policies, procedures, and applicable regulatory requirements while performing daily duties.

Essential Skills

  • High school diploma or GED.

  • Strong administrative skills, including document handling and organization.

  • Proficient computer skills, including Microsoft Excel, Adobe, and Microsoft Office applications.

  • Accurate data entry skills with strong attention to detail.

  • Ability to process and manage administrative and reporting documentation efficiently.

  • Ability to follow established procedures and quality standards.

  • Strong organizational skills to manage multiple project files and report packages.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Previous laboratory or environmental industry experience preferred.

  • Familiarity with laboratory processes such as accessioning and sample handling is an advantage.

  • Ability to learn and understand basic concepts related to organics, metals, and wet chemistry testing.

  • Comfort working in a small, collaborative team environment with opportunities for growth into other departments.

  • Strong communication skills to coordinate with internal teams and external clients.

Work Environment

  • This is an in-office position within a regional environmental testing laboratory that has been providing high-quality environmental services for over four decades across the Northeast and Mid-Atlantic.

  • The work environment features a small, collaborative team where the leadership is actively involved on site, fostering close communication and mentorship.

  • You will work closely with the quality assurance and quality control team and support the Laboratory Director, using tools such as Microsoft Office, Excel, and Adobe to manage reports and documentation.

  • The setting emphasizes technical excellence, reliability, long-term client relationships, and strict adherence to safety policies and regulatory requirements, while offering opportunities to grow within the role or transition into different departments over time.

Job Type & Location

This is a Contract position based out of Fairfield, NJ.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $20.00 - $22.00/hr.

Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
