Full job description

Description

At Revolution Foods, we believe every meal is a chance to make a difference. Since 2006, we have worked to expand access to fresh, nutritious food, serving students and seniors across California and Nevada. As a B Corporation and Public Benefit Corporation, our team is driven by Collaboration, Integrity, Entrepreneurship, and Excellence.

The Quality Assurance Technician II is an experienced, hands-on food safety and quality professional responsible for monitoring daily production in a fast-paced, USDA-regulated, ready-to-eat (RTE) food manufacturing environment. This role works independently on the production floor to verify compliance, identify and resolve issues, and support safe, consistent production of fresh and chilled meals.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide floor-based FSQA oversight of RTE production and assembly lines, verifying compliance with USDA requirements, HACCP plans, GMPs, SSOPs, and company procedures.

  • Complete pre-operational inspections, sanitation verification, ATP swabbing, and line clearance; confirm assembly-line setup and readiness before production starts or changes over.

  • Conduct routine environmental monitoring and sampling, review environmental and microbiological laboratory reports, identify out-of-specification results, and escalate findings for corrective action.

  • Verify critical process controls, including cooking, cooling, holding, and temperature management for fresh and chilled foods.

  • Perform in-process checks for product quality, labeling, weights, packaging integrity, and adherence to approved specifications.

  • Support shelf-life controls, product handling, storage conditions, and traceability for fresh and chilled finished products.

  • Document inspections and findings accurately; initiate QA holds, assist with investigations and root-cause analysis, and verify corrective and preventive actions.

  • Partner with Production, Sanitation, and Maintenance teams to resolve food safety concerns, support line changeovers, and reinforce proper practices with frontline employees.

  • Support production trials, new product launches, audits, and ongoing food safety improvement initiatives.

Required Qualifications

  • 4–5 years of hands-on food safety or quality assurance experience in food manufacturing, including ready-to-eat (RTE) products in a USDA-regulated facility.

  • Ability to communicate effectively in both English and Spanish with production and sanitation teams.

  • Demonstrated experience with pre-operational inspections, ATP swabbing, environmental monitoring/testing, line clearance, and assembly-line setup verification.

  • Ability to read and interpret microbiological laboratory results and recognize when escalation or corrective action is required.

  • Experience with fresh and chilled food production, temperature controls, and shelf-life considerations.

  • Working knowledge of HACCP, GMPs, SSOPs, food safety documentation, and quality issue management.

  • High school diploma or equivalent; strong attention to detail and ability to work independently in a high-volume production environment.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Knowledge of SQF, Kosher, and Organic standards and certification requirements.

  • Hands-on laboratory microbiology experience.

  • Associate’s or bachelor’s degree in Food Science, Microbiology, or a related discipline.

Physical Requirements

Ability to stand and move throughout the production floor for extended periods; work in hot and cold production environments; and lift up to 25–50 lbs, with or without reasonable accommodation.

Work Schedule: Eight-hour shifts with start times scheduled between 4:00 a.m. and 7:00 a.m.

Hourly Pay Range: $26.00–$31.00 per hour.
