Description
Seeking engineers with strong aircraft flight dynamics and vehicle performance analysis experience to support an autonomous aerial refueling aircraft program. This role focuses on reviewing and validating mission flight data and simulation outputs to ensure mission plans are safe, stable, and operationally viable. The engineer will analyze post-flight and simulation results, identify anomalies, assess flying qualities, and provide recommendations for mission plan validation.
This is a data analysis and flight performance evaluation role, not a mission planning, control law development, or simulation development position.
Key Responsibilities
Analyze aircraft flight dynamics and flying qualities data generated from the programs mission plan executions.
Review flight model outputs, including line-over-line plots and other performance data, to determine mission safety and vehicle performance.
Evaluate 6 Degree of Freedom (6DOF) simulation and flight results.
Assess aircraft behavior during:
o Waypoint transitions
o Turns and maneuvering
o Contingency/divert routes
o Takeoff and landing operations
Monitor and evaluate critical flight parameters including:
o Load factors (Nz)
o Angle of Attack (AoA)
o Sideslip/Beta
o Control surface positions and rates
o Stability and oscillatory behavior
Identify undesirable flight characteristics, anomalies, oscillations, or performance concerns.
Validate multiple mission paths and flight profiles provided by the customer.
Document findings clearly and communicate results to engineering and program stakeholders.
Contribute recommendations for future process improvements and potential test automation opportunities.

Required Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Aerospace Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or related engineering discipline.
Strong understanding of:
o Aircraft flight dynamics
o Stability and control principles
o Aircraft performance analysis
o Flying qualities assessment
Experience analyzing 6DOF aircraft simulation or flight test results.
Ability to interpret vehicle dynamics data and assess safe aircraft operation across mission phases.
Strong analytical, technical writing, and communication skills.
U.S. Citizenship required.
Ability to work with Controlled Unclassified Information (CUI).
Preferred Qualifications
Experience conducting or supporting flight test data analysis.
Experience with autonomous aircraft, UAVs, drones, or unmanned systems.
Experience supporting military aircraft programs.
Familiarity with MATLAB, Simulink, MatrixX, Mod X Sim, or similar aerospace analysis and modeling tools.
Experience with flying wing or low-observable aircraft platforms (B-21, X-47, MQ-25, similar platforms).
Experience identifying opportunities for analysis automation and process improvement.
Additional Information
No security clearance required.
Work may be performed at Boeing Defense location DFW/Actalent center
Engineers will work with Navy-provided mission plan validation datasets and flight performance outputs.
The program involves high-volume mission validation efforts supporting autonomous aircraft operations.

Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $45.00 - $65.00/hr.
Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
