Full job description
Insurance touches people during some of the most challenging moments in their lives. Hi Marley is on a mission to transform how the P&C industry communicates, making those moments faster, easier, and more empathetic for carriers and the customers they serve. We build AI-powered software that keeps everyone in the claims conversation informed and connected. If you believe insurance can combine operational excellence and automation with a human touch, we’d love to meet you.
As we continue to grow, we’re looking for a Director, Data Analytics to build and lead the team that helps every part of Hi Marley make better decisions with data. Reporting to the Chief Product Officer, you’ll lead an existing analytics team of two, including a Manager of Analytics. You’ll own hiring as the function expands and partner with leaders across Product, Customer Success, Growth, Marketing, and Finance to drive data-driven decision-making. You’ve built, scaled, and delivered with this function at a growth-stage company before, and you’re just as comfortable rolling up your sleeves and diving into the data yourself. The team will sit together, with shared standards, tools, and a career path, while each analyst embeds deeply with the functions they support so they understand the business and move at its pace. In your first year, you’ll set the analytics roadmap with each function, establish trusted company metrics, and deliver the customer pilot, product, and financial analysis our teams need most. Our data strategy holds that everyone at Hi Marley should be able to find, understand, and trust the data they need to make decisions, without waiting on another team, and that the metrics we share with customers should be the ones we run the business on. You’ll make that real. Our Data Engineering team owns the pipelines and governed data foundation, and our data product team owns the data surfaced inside the product. You own how Hi Marley uses data to run the business and deliver impact for the organization. Teamwork and shared enthusiasm are a core part of our culture, which is why this role involves joining us in the Boston office for 3 days each week. What You’ll Do:
- Data Driven Impact: Empower the organization to make data driven decisions by partnering with teams, understanding workflows and decisions, and ensuring they have the right data and analysis to inform impactful business decisions.
- Lead the Analytics Function: Create shared standards, tooling, and career paths, with each analyst aligned to the functions they support. Grow the two analysts on the team today, and hire as the function expands.
- Trusted Metrics & Self-Serve: Define and govern core company metrics and build self-serve access, so leadership and board reporting run on one trusted source and teams can answer their own questions.
- Customer Pilots & Utilization: With Growth and Customer Success, measure customer pilots and utilization (baselines, pre/post analysis, and readouts) to prove value and support renewal and expansion.
- Product Analytics: With Product, own usage, adoption, funnel, and testing analysis so teams know what’s working and what to build next.
- Finance, Billing & Reporting: Partner with Finance and FP&A on billing, usage, and financial reporting, so the usage and billable-outcome data behind forecasting and planning is accurate and on time.
- Marketing & Growth Insight: Deliver pipeline, campaign, and go-to-market analysis that helps Marketing and Growth focus on impact.
- Partner with Data Engineering: They own the pipelines and the governed data foundation. You set the analytics requirements, priorities, and standards on top of it, including the direction of our internal visualization tooling.
What We’re Looking For:
- Experience: 10+ years in analytics, including 5+ years leading analytics teams. You’re a leader who has built and owned an analytics or business intelligence function at a B2B SaaS or other growth-stage company.
- Built and scaled: A track record of building an analytics team from a small start, scaling it as the company grew, and delivering analysis that changed decisions.
- Cross-functional range: Hands-on experience across product analytics (usage, funnels, experimentation), customer and revenue analytics (pilots, utilization, retention), and financial analytics (billing, usage, FP&A support).
- Technical depth: Strong SQL, data modeling, statistics, and experimentation, plus modern BI tools (e.g., Looker). You’re a credible partner to data engineering.
- Business partner: You turn business questions into analysis and analysis into decisions, and you’re comfortable with executives and frontline teams alike. You build alignment across functions.
- Develops people: You grow analysts quickly, coach them to own outcomes, and build a culture of curiosity and impact.
- Communication: You make data tell a clear story, and you surface hard news (data quality issues, tradeoffs) directly with a path forward.
- Curiosity: Real curiosity about what data can teach us, and the instinct to find the question nobody has asked yet.
Compensation, Benefits & Perks: At Hi Marley, we are committed to fair and transparent pay practices. The annual base salary for this role is expected to fall within the range of [$139,300–$218,900], depending on experience, skills, qualifications, and location. Offers are determined based on these factors as well as internal peer equity. It’s most common for new hires to start near the midpoint of the range, allowing room for growth as employees develop in their role. - A 4% matching 401(k) program
- Medical, dental, vision, disability, and life insurance coverage for employees working 30+ hours per week
- Monthly wellness stipend

- Meaningful work that directly supports our mission to help people and organizations communicate with empathy and clarity
