Key Responsibilities: This role will be responsible for technical ownership of various gas turbine initiatives ranging from new component design, production and/or customer support. You will support PBS Aerospace’s strategic growth initiatives in close cooperation with members of Design Engineering, Operations, and other PBS Aerospace Divisions. As a technical focal point within the organization, you will play a pivotal role in advancing PBS Aerospace’s position in the small turbine engine marketplace.

  • Ownership of propulsion-related initiatives of varying complexity and duration; ensuring that requirements are established and met in accordance with industry and regulatory standards
  • Develop, maintain, and improve engineering drawings, specifications, and technical reports for manufacturing and assembly of tight tolerance turbomachinery, as well as installation of the gas turbine into many unique applications for various end-use purposes
  • Support cross-functional teams to establish, implement, and maintain Root Cause and Corrective Action investigations as they relate to Service Revealed Difficulties and Failure Investigations
  • Assist the Supply Chain organization through technical support of developing manufacturing suppliers providing parts and accessories that comprise PBS Aerospace’s various gas turbine models
  • Develop and execute test plans for engine systems for the purposes of investigation, new component qualification, process validation, or optimization.
  • Gather, analyze, and interpret performance and operational data to develop reports in support of design initiatives or investigations
  • Facilitate inter-disciplinary team meetings to ensure that project inputs include all relevant discipline stakeholders including design, manufacturing, and quality assurance

Qualifications:

  • BS in Mechanical, Aerospace, or related Engineering discipline. Advanced degree preferred
  • 0-5+ years of professional, hands-on experience with hardware; including internships or co-ops
  • Experience in using 3D CAD software for modelling and assemblies; Creo preferred
  • Knowledge of drafting best practices – GD&T in accordance with ASME Standards
  • Strong interest or experience in gas turbine engine technology and associated physical sciences – thermodynamics, fluid dynamics, materials sciences
  • Strong interest or experience with aerospace manufacturing techniques – brazing, welding, additive manufacturing, machining, casting, forging, etc.
  • Strong engineering first principles related to turbomachinery design, operation and typical failure modes
  • Exceptional Microsoft Office familiarity and presentation skills – Excel, PowerPoint, Project, Word, Teams, etc.
  • Must have strong written and verbal communication skills as well as multi-tasking abilities, strong analytical skills, strong interpersonal skills, organizational and time management skills
  • High-energy and passionate team player who is excited about solving complex, high-impact problems, and embraces a culture of trust, free-thought, and collaboration
  • Must be a U.S. Citizen. This position may require access to systems/tools that are restricted to individuals who possess US citizenship

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Proficiency in MATLAB, Python, C/C++ and other programming languages
  • Experience and interest in overall gas turbine and component performance, aerothermodynamic modelling, and programming in NPSS (Preferred), GasTurb, etc.
  • Experience with PTC PLM Ecosystem products (Windchill and Creo) and ANSYS Engineering Analysis tools (Mechanical, Fluent, CFX)
