Additional catheterization laboratory experience in Madison is anticipated to average approximately one day per week. This experience may be tailored and expanded to accommodate particularly educational or complex cases, as agreed upon by the fellow and supervising physicians. Fellows will have the opportunity to participate in a weekly pediatric cardiology continuity clinic, supported by nursing staff, with independent responsibility for the management of general cardiology patients and progressive responsibility for the care of pre- and post-catheterization patients under the supervision of the attending interventional cardiologist. Current staffing includes a highly experienced physician assistant who is proficient in many of the clinical and procedural responsibilities assumed by the advanced interventional fellow and serves as an additional educational and clinical resource. Fellows will present cases and participate in weekly clinical care conferences and other multidisciplinary conferences as appropriate.
