Full job description

The mission of the Secretary of State's office is to serve the public by meeting its legal responsibilities of collecting, securing, and communicating information that enhances commerce, ensures the integrity of Louisiana's elections, and preserves, presents, and makes accessible government information essential to Louisiana's operations and its recorded history. The Louisiana Old Governor’s Mansion is seeking a dependable Maintenance Repairer 1 or 2 to handle daily facility upkeep, preventative maintenance, and repairs to ensure a safe, functional, and welcoming environment for all visitors and staff. One year of experience or training in the building construction trades, building maintenance, maintenance or repair of mechanical equipment, or park operations and grounds maintenance; OR

Six semester hours in construction management, construction technology, or engineering, or any combination of these courses.The official job specifications for this role, as defined by the State Civil Service, can be found here.Job Duties:

  • Maintain, install and repair all interior and exterior equipment.

  • Assist clients with event set up.

  • Equipment inventory.

  • Minor repairs to exhibits, courtyard and building.

  • Work with contractors as needed.

  • Use and maintain tools.

  • May be required to work some nights and weekends.
