Senior Software Engineer

Job Description

Insight Global is seeking a hands-on Software Engineer to develop large-scale distributed systems that power workload placement, resource scheduling, and balancing for virtualized infrastructure. This is a backend/infrastructure engineering role focused on compute, memory, storage, networking, and VM scheduling.

Skills and Requirements

8+ years of software engineering experience building large-scale distributed systems or infrastructure platforms.

Strong C++ development experience (Java is acceptable if paired with meaningful C++ experience).

Deep understanding of operating systems, resource management, and infrastructure systems, including CPU, memory, storage, and networking concepts.

Experience designing backend control plane services, schedulers, workload placement engines, or infrastructure/resource orchestration systems in cloud or virtualized environments (AWS, GCP, VMware, Nutanix, etc.). Experience with virtualization technologies, virtual machines, hypervisors, or VMware vSphere.

Experience building scheduling, resource allocation, capacity management, or load balancing algorithms.

Exposure to hardware accelerators, GPU scheduling, or AI infrastructure workloads.
