BASIC PURPOSE:
The purpose of this position is to do data entry for DHQ Finance Department while ensuring that all policy and procedure guidelines are upheld while advising other staff and guiding them to a be a consistent team unit in practice and execution.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Assist in development and training of best practices
-
Audit preparation
-
Utilize Report Software – Shelby, VIVID
-
Journal preparation
-
Processing and data entry of Corps Accounts Receivable in a timely manor
-
Processing and data entry of Corps Accounts Payable in a timely manor
-
Processing of check batches in a timely manor
-
Review vouchers for policy and procedures and General Ledger coding
-
Understanding of how the Chart of Accounts works and how to code
-
Special projects as assigned by Assistant Controller
-
Responsible for the most advanced Corps data entry
-
Mentor and review Corps employees
-
Assist with quarterly reconciliations
-
Generating Reports
-
Prepare some reconciliation spreadsheets
-
Gifts in Kind / Reach review
-
Vendor Maintenance
-
Aged AP/AR outstanding item analysis
-
Other related duties as assigned.
COMMUNICATIONS:
-
Answer the telephone, transfer calls, and take messages.
-
Direct communication with Corps by Phone and Outlook.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES AND OTHER QUALIFICATIONS REQUIREMENTS:
-
High School Diploma or GED.
-
Associate degree, bachelor’s degree or Accounting Certification from an accredited college or trade school. preferred.
-
Two years’ experience in the accounting field. With Accounting Degree or Certification, less experience will be considered.
-
Two to four years’ experience in an advanced accounting position preferred.
-
Must be computer literate and able to work in Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook or email program with a high level of accuracy and attention to detail.
-
Experience with Shelby and Vivid software preferred.
-
Must be able to understand, follow and receive English written and oral instructions.
-
Ability to speak, read, comprehend, write and communicate effectively in the English language and in a professional manner.
-
Ability to maintain patience and courtesy in dealing with a wide range of people and their needs.
-
Must be well organized, self-motivated, flexible, and possess good people skills.
-
Ability to address multiple projects in a time sensitive manner is essential.
-
Must possess the self-discipline necessary to perform repetitive tasks without lowering quality of work.

Must be able to maintain confidentiality.

Ability to maintain highest level of security in addressing oral and written communications as well as the filing of correspondence to protect the integrity.
OTHER:
Include but not limited to the following:

Perform tasks auxiliary to bookkeeping functions, which may include written correspondence, special report preparation, attendance at meetings, etc.

Other duties as assigned that relates to the successful operation of the Finance Department.
Working Conditions:
This position requires long periods of sitting at a desk using a personal computer with screen monitor and telephone. May be required to lift, move, or carry materials up to 25 pounds and be able to regularly walk, stand, bend, stoop and reach above shoulder height for extended periods.
Must be able to comprehend assignments and/or ask for additional information or clarification until the assignment is understood.
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit; use hands to finger, hand, or feel objects, tools, or controls; to talk or hear; reach with hands and arms. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision and distance vision.
The employee will work on many projects at once with interruptions and noise from ringing telephones, printers, copiers, and walk-in traffic. The position meets multiple, constant, rigid deadlines, and competing/changing priorities. There will be phone and in-person contact with people from diverse backgrounds who may be angry, hostile, confused, or frustrated.
The position requires the mental aptitude to organize projects, set priorities, calculate, catalogue, inspect, analyze plans, comprehend, and cooperate with others, & etc.
The employee works with minimum supervision and the work involves a high degree of independence. May be required to make independent decisions that may involve unique or unusual situations and/or complex issues and dealing with demanding requests and/or timelines.
