Position Summary

Mesabi Metallics is seeking an experienced Project Coordinator – Direct Reduced Iron (DRI) to support the planning, coordination, and execution of the Company's Direct Reduced Iron (DRI) project. Reporting to the Project Director, this role will coordinate engineering, procurement, construction, project controls, and commissioning activities to ensure successful project execution.

The Project Coordinator – DRI will play a critical role in integrating project workstreams, monitoring project progress, identifying execution risks, and facilitating collaboration across internal teams, EPC contractors, consultants, vendors, and other key stakeholders. This position will help ensure project objectives are achieved safely, on schedule, within budget, and in accordance with project requirements.

Job Responsibilities

  • Coordinate engineering, procurement, construction, project controls, and commissioning activities throughout the DRI project lifecycle.

  • Develop and maintain integrated project execution plans to support project milestones and overall delivery objectives.

  • Monitor project progress and coordinate with internal and external stakeholders to ensure work remains on schedule and within budget.

  • Facilitate communication and collaboration between engineering disciplines, EPC contractors, consultants, procurement teams, construction management, and project controls.

  • Identify project execution risks, recommend mitigation strategies, and support timely issue resolution.

  • Coordinate project meetings, track action items, and provide regular project status updates to leadership.

  • Ensure alignment between engineering deliverables, procurement activities, construction sequencing, and commissioning requirements.

  • Support project controls activities, including schedule reviews, cost monitoring, progress tracking, and performance reporting.

  • Coordinate the resolution of technical, commercial, and execution-related issues that may impact project success.

  • Promote compliance with company safety standards, quality requirements, environmental regulations, and project governance procedures.

  • Foster strong working relationships across project teams to support collaboration and successful project execution.

Skills and Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Construction Management, Project Management, or a related technical discipline preferred.

  • 10–15 years of experience supporting the execution of large industrial capital projects.

  • Demonstrated experience coordinating EPC or EPCM project execution.

  • Experience supporting Direct Reduced Iron (DRI), steel, mining, metals, manufacturing, energy, or other heavy industrial projects preferred.

  • Strong understanding of engineering, procurement, construction, commissioning, and project controls processes.

  • Proven ability to coordinate multidisciplinary project teams and manage multiple stakeholders.

  • Excellent organizational, communication, leadership, and problem-solving skills.

  • Strong understanding of project scheduling, risk management, and capital project execution methodologies.

  • Proficiency with project management software and Microsoft Office applications is preferred.

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to travel to project sites, contractor offices, vendor facilities, and other project-related locations as required.

  • Ability to work in industrial and outdoor environments while adhering to all company safety policies and procedures.

  • Ability to participate in field walks, construction progress reviews, and coordination meetings in active construction environments.

  • Ability to remain stationary for extended periods while working on a computer and reviewing project documentation.
