Job Description

Insight Global's client is seeking a Project Safety Coordinator (PSC) to support a Student Housing Project at Stephen F. Austin State University in Nacogdoches, TX.

This position will serve as the dedicated safety leader for a large ground-up, vertical construction project and will be responsible for site safety oversight, OSHA compliance, contractor accountability, hazard identification, documentation management, and safety program execution.

This role is heavily governed by University of Texas System safety requirements, and candidates must meet the specified qualifications exactly. The ideal candidate will have extensive commercial construction safety experience, strong field leadership skills, and the ability to maintain compliance throughout the full project lifecycle.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead daily site safety meetings, toolbox talks, and safety briefings.
  • Conduct jobsite safety inspections, audits, and hazard assessments.
  • Ensure compliance with OSHA regulations and University of Texas safety requirements.
  • Maintain safety records, certifications, training documentation, and compliance reporting.
  • Investigate incidents, identify corrective actions, and drive continuous safety improvements.
  • Partner with project management, subcontractors, and field personnel to promote a safe jobsite culture.
  • Monitor contractor safety performance and ensure adherence to project-specific safety standards.
  • Support workforce growth as the project expands from approximately 20-25 personnel to 100+ workers.
  • Coordinate closely with the Project Safety Assistant as project staffing scales.

Location: Nacogdoches, TX (On-Site)

Compensation Pay Rate initially: $50-$60/hour + Per Diem Conversion: $120,000-$150,000 Base Salary Compensation may vary based on experience, certifications, and overall qualifications.

Skills and Requirements

  • Minimum 7 consecutive years of dedicated commercial/building construction safety experience.
  • Minimum 5 years of building construction safety management experience.
  • Experience supporting commercial vertical construction and ground-up building projects.
  • Experience working for a General Contractor or safety consulting firm providing project safety oversight.
  • Proven experience overseeing the full project safety function.
  • OSHA 500 or OSHA 502 certification required (OSHA 510 alone does not qualify).
  • Current First Aid, CPR, and AED certifications.
  • Strong knowledge of OSHA regulations, jobsite safety, hazard identification, incident investigations, and safety compliance.
  • Ability to provide all required certifications and supporting documentation for University of Texas approval.
  • Willingness to work on-site in Nacogdoches, TX for the duration of the project.
  • CSP or CHST certification.
  • Previous University of Texas System project experience.
  • Spanish-speaking ability.
  • Higher education, dormitory, or public-sector construction project experience.
  • Experience managing large project workforces exceeding 100 personnel.
