THE POSITION

Start your day with work that truly matters! The Maintenance Repairman 1 position with the Department of Transportation gives you the chance to help build and improve important public spaces. DESCRIPTION OF WORK

This role focuses on supporting construction and finishing projects through skilled trades tasks and careful material planning. It also includes manual labor, equipment care, and maintaining a safe work environment. As a Maintenance Repairman 1, you will perform the following duties:

  • Material Planning: Select tools, estimate materials, and prepare rough plans for assigned tasks

  • Construction Tasks: Measure, cut, place, and finish materials for structures such as railings, stairs, and ramps

  • Concrete Work: Order, mix, and pour concrete to complete various construction needs

  • Tool Usage: Operate motorized and non-motorized hand tools and report missing or damaged equipment

  • Safety Practices: Conduct visual inspections, make adjustments, and document findings to support a safe environment

  • Incident Response: Report accidents promptly and seek medical attention when necessary

Work Schedule and Additional Information:

  • Seasonal, full-time employment

  • Work hours are 7:00 AM to 3:00 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 30-minute lunch.

  • Hours are subject to change due to weather or seasonal conditions.

  • Telework: You will not have the option to telework in this position.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY

QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:

  • Two years of experience in general maintenance work which has involved at least two of the building, electrical, or mechanical trades;or

  • Any equivalent combination of experience and training that affords the applicant with the Required Knowledges, Skills, and Abilities.

Additional Requirements:

  • You must be able to perform essential job functions.
