Description

Our adult outpatient psychiatry service is expanding, and we are looking for a clinical social worker (LCSW) who welcomes the challenge and satisfaction of providing behavioral health care to a diverse population in collaboration with a motivated group of clinicians, researchers, and educators. Our social workers provide clinical services and may also contribute to academic activities such as teaching, providing supervision and research.

The clinician will serve as a Clinical Social Worker in our adult outpatient clinic located in the newly renovated Putnam Hall on the South Campus of Stony Brook University and may include integration with medical subspecialty areas. Responsibilities include direct patient care including needs assessments, diagnostic evaluations, individual and group psychotherapy.

Clinical Social Workers with experience treating substance use disorders and/or experience with treating clinically complex symptoms and presentations are encouraged to apply.

FLEXIBLE: Full-Time schedule totaling forty hours 5 days per week, including the possibility of evening hours; hybrid work schedule including appointments via telehealth.

*Please note: The telehealth policy could be subject to change by Stony Brook University and Stony Brook Hospital if needed. Per Stony Brook Hospital’s policies, Psychologists and patients must be located in New York State.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications:

MSW (foreign equivalent or higher) from an accredited Social Work Education School. New York State LCSW licensure. Knowledge and experience providing evidenced based psychotherapy including cognitive behavioral therapy, psychodynamic and insight-oriented therapies. Knowledge and experience in group therapy to adult patients who present with clinically complex symptoms and presentations.

Preferred Qualifications:

SIFI certified. Experience treating substance use disorder using evidence-based practices such as: CBT, Motivational Interviewing, Supportive-expressive Therapy, Relapse Prevention, Multi-dimensional Family Therapy, Contingency Management. Experience training social work interns. Experience providing care via telehealth videoconferencing platform. At least 3 years post licensure experience of conducting intake assessments, group therapy, and individual therapy.
