Summary
About the Position: This position is located at Brooke Army Medical Center, Fort Sam Houston, San Antonio, Texas, United States. Student Loan Repayment May Be Authorized Advance In-Hire Authorized Advance Leave Accrual Authorized Recruitment or Relocation incentive May Be Authorized. Non-Federal work experience may be creditable for leave purposes. This is a Direct Hire Solicitation
Duties
- Plan, direct, coordinate and supervise the work performed by Respiratory Therapists who administer Respiratory Care in the treatment and diagnosis of critically and non-critically ill patients from neonatal to geriatric patient populations.
- Plan, direct, coordinate and supervise the work performed by respiratory therapists who administer inhalation therapy to ambulatory and non-ambulatory patients.
- Make work assignments and adjust workload and shift assignments as required, to provide continuing care, considering available personnel, capabilities, official assignments and related factors
- Perform and/or supervise the delivery of nebulized and intermittent positive pressure breathing treatments, pre-and post operative breathing training, and postural drainage and percussion
- Evaluate present and proposed inhalation therapy equipment and procedures for adequacy, cost, therapeutic value, and qualified operators
- Evaluate work performance of subordinates in accordance with performance standards, recommends awards, promotions, and implements disciplinary measures such as warnings and reprimands.

Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience; if qualifying based on education, your transcripts will be required as part of your application. Additional information about transcripts is in this document. Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes Overseeing subordinates, performing breathing treatments or pulmonary evaluations and maintaining respiratory therapy equipment. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-09). Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. For this job, you must meet the qualification requirement using experience alone--no substitution of education for experience is permitted.

Payment of Permanent Change of Station (PCS) costs MAY BE authorized, based on a determination that a PCS move is not in the Government interest. Position is designated as Mission Essential.
