Job Description

Job Title: Vehicle Inspection Specialist Location: 6801 Temie Lee Pkwy, Midlothian, VA 23112 Job Overview: We are pioneering a streamlined workflow model to support our automotive technicians and deliver unmatched transparency to our customers. We are hiring a Dedicated Vehicle Inspection Specialist. In this specialized role, you will be the frontline evaluator for every vehicle entering our shop. You will perform comprehensive Digital Vehicle Inspections (DVIs) and courtesy checks using tablet technology, capturing photos, video, and notes before handing the vehicle over to our repair team. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Execute Comprehensive DVIs: Perform complete Courtesy Checks and Digital Vehicle Inspections on all arriving vehicles using tablet technology.
  • Component & Safety Evaluations: Systematically inspect fluid levels/conditions, tire tread depths and air pressure, brake pad thickness, battery health, lighting, belts, hoses, and steering/suspension components.
  • Digital Documentation: Capture clear, well-lit photos and concise videos of worn, damaged, or clean components to attach directly to the digital report sent to the guest.
  • Data Entry & Accuracy: Input detailed, professional, customer-ready notes and precise measurements into the shop management system.
  • Maintain Quality Standards: Consistently achieve a 100 DVI System Quality Score on every vehicle by completing all required inspection fields, measurements, and media without cutting corners.
  • Vehicle Staging & Workflow: Safely move and stage vehicles between the parking lot, inspection bay, and primary technician bays to maintain a continuous, uninterrupted shop rhythm.
  • Bay & Equipment Ownership: Keep the dedicated inspection area clean, safe, organized, and staged for rapid vehicle turnaround.

Qualifications

Qualifications:

  • Industry Experience: 1+ years of experience in a quick-lube facility/dealership, automotive inspection facility, or formal completion/enrollment in an automotive technology program.
  • State Inspection License (Not Required, but Preferred): Active Virginia State Safety Inspection License preferred (or ability to obtain within 90 days of hire). Having this will result in a higher pay range.
  • Meticulous Eye for Detail: High accuracy in identifying fluid leaks, wear patterns, and safety hazards.
  • Tech-Savvy & Fast: Strong proficiency operating digital tablets, inspection software, and photo/video equipment at a steady pace.
  • Licensing & Driving Record: Valid Virginia Driver’s License with a clean driving record (Required). Note: A Virginia State Inspection license is NOT required for this role.
  • Professional Mindset: Punctual, self-motivated, and committed to high-quality work aligned with our "Love Your Neighbor" customer-first philosophy.

Physical Requirements:

  • Occasionally lift and/or move over 50 pounds
  • Be able to work with tools on vehicles lifted above their head
  • Work in tight spaces as dictated by the vehicle's needed repair
  • Have the needed dexterity in order to efficiently use hand-tools
  • Walk/stand for the majority of the workday
  • Drive manual transmission vehicles
  • Keeping a brisk work pace in a high-volume environment
  • Efficiently navigate a computer
