Job Summary

This position supports Oil and Gas Marketing and Marketing Administration by administering oil and gas purchase and related commercial contracts, validating settlement and payment information, preparing accruals, researching pricing, maintaining contract data, and delivering reliable analysis and reporting. The analyst works across Marketing, Accounting, Contract Administration, Legal, Operations, and technology teams to improve data accuracy, strengthen controls, and resolve exceptions.

The role is also intended for an analyst with a strong interest in applying artificial intelligence, automation, and analytics to day-to-day work. The analyst is expected to learn emerging tools, identify practical use cases, help develop and test solutions, and implement improvements within approved security, data governance, and internal control requirements. AI supports professional judgment; the analyst remains accountable for validating output and the accuracy of completed work.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Build, maintain and run models to verify oil and gas settlement statements comply with contract terms and identify and resolve any discrepancies with counterparty.

  • Prepare oil and gas price accruals for prior-month production and provide clear analysis of variances between accruals and actual results.

  • Maintain accurate contract, counterparty, property, pricing, and workflow data in Horizon or other designated systems and databases.

  • Develop and maintain business intelligence reports, dashboards, and management summaries that communicate contract status, financial results, exceptions, and trends.

  • Help design, test, document, implement, and monitor AI-assisted and automated solutions, validating source data and outputs and escalating control, privacy, security, or accuracy concerns.

  • AI and digital enablement - Shows curiosity and initiative in learning AI, automation, and analytics tools and applies them responsibly to practical business needs.

  • Process optimization - Understands end-to-end workflows, identifies root causes and control gaps, and simplifies work while preserving accuracy and accountability.

  • Technical proficiency - Uses advanced Excel capabilities and is able to work with business intelligence tools, databases, and commodity accounting or contract systems.

  • Communication - Explains contract, pricing, settlement, and technical information clearly in written and verbal form for business and technical audiences.

  • Accountability and trust - Meets commitments, handles sensitive information appropriately, documents work, and validates results before use or distribution.

  • Action orientation and nimble learning - Approaches new problems with initiative, learns through experimentation, incorporates feedback, and adapts as tools and business needs evolve.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in Accounting, Finance, Marketing, Business, Data Analytics, or a related field.

  • Minimum of five (5) years of relevant experience in oil and gas marketing, contract administration, commodity accounting, upstream or midstream operations, financial analysis, or a related area.

  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office, including strong Excel skills, and the ability to learn enterprise systems and data tools.

  • Demonstrated experience or initiative in applying AI tools, machine learning concepts, or generative AI solutions to improve business workflows and decision-making.

  • An acceptable pre-employment background and drug test.

  • Experience with Horizon, Allegro, or a similar commodity accounting, contract, or settlement system.

  • Experience building web applications, business intelligence dashboards, or reporting tools, including familiarity with AI-powered platforms such as Copilot, Cursor, ChatGPT, Glean, or similar emerging technologies.

  • SQL proficiency or experience working with Databricks, data warehouses, or structured operational data.

Physical Requirements and Working Conditions

  • Requires prolonged sitting, some bending and stooping.

  • Occasional lifting up to 25 pounds.

  • Manual dexterity sufficient to operate a computer keyboard and calculator.
