Job Duties

Position Title: Psychotherapist

Unit: IV SEIU HealthCare Minnesota and Iowa Represented

Department: Behavioral Health

Location: CIH/Midway

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

Masters Degree in a recognized behavioral health discipline.

Licensure at the Masters or doctorate level from the appropriate state board permitting the full scope of practice defined in the job description.

Two years of supervised clinical experience with a broad range of presenting problems and therapies, including solution focused brief therapy and cognitive behavior therapy.

Familiarity and ability to conduct diagnostic assessments.

Background in adult services.

Position specific qualifications are attached when appropriate.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

Experience as a behavioral health clinician in a managed care setting.

Experience in an outpatient setting as a primary care behavioral health provider.

Experience delivering culturally responsive care to patients from diverse cultural, linguistic, and refugee backgrounds.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: Proficiency in other languages may be required.

POSITION PURPOSE: Service excellence is to be centered on patient care and patient relationships and is the responsibility of all employees. Teamwork is the norm and all employees will be held accountable to work as effective team members. Psychotherapists provide a broad range of behavioral health services to HealthPartners patients with primary behavioral health problems. Services provided include assessment, diagnosis, psychotherapy, behavioral health education, crisis intervention and emergency services. Participate as a member of an interdependent, interdisciplinary group practice in development and improvement of behavioral health services.

ACCOUNTABILITIES:

Provide direct care behavioral health services, including assessment, psychotherapy, emergency services and crisis intervention to patients presenting with primary behavioral health problems.

Provide coordination and continuity of care when multiple modalities of behavioral health care are required by patients, or when multiple providers are involved in the patient's care.

Maintain communication with HealthPartners medical personnel and with outside professionals, agencies, and institutions as needed to coordinate the behavioral health care of patients.

Provide day time emergency call coverage on a rotating basis.

Maintain records and reports documenting all contacts with patients in accordance with departmental and professional standards.

Provide case consultation to other HealthPartners behavioral health and medical staff, utilizing specialized skill and knowledge, such as knowledge of particular clinical issues, populations, treatment approaches and assessment methods.

Actively manage his/her caseload in order to meet individual and team productivity goals. Be responsive to the needs of the patient population. Collaborate with other team members, service area members and management staff in planning most effective division of clinical work. Shift focus of practice according to changing needs of the department and patients.

Participate as a member of an interdisciplinary team, of a service area, of a professional discipline, and of the department in various planning, program development, professional development and quality improvement activities. Participate in intra- and inter-departmental committees, task forces and projects, as requested by management.

Provide training, clinical supervision and mentorship to other behavioral health staff, as requested by management.
