Full job description
Description We are looking for a Staff Accountant to support plant accounting activities in Haltom City, Texas. This role contributes to accurate financial reporting, operating analysis, and budgeting in a manufacturing environment, while helping maintain compliance with company policies and accounting standards. The ideal candidate brings strong general ledger experience, sound analytical skills, and the ability to work closely with operations and leadership teams.
Responsibilities:

Manage monthly close activities, ensuring financial records are completed accurately and on schedule for assigned facilities.

Review and reconcile general ledger accounts, including balance sheet and income statement items, in alignment with U.S. GAAP and internal controls.

Develop recurring labor and cost reports, highlighting changes, trends, and operational impacts for leadership review.

Analyze plant spending against budget, explain material variances, and partner with management to recommend corrective actions.

Close production orders, investigate manufacturing variances, and collaborate with cross-functional teams to improve costing accuracy over time.

Support capital expenditure processes by assisting with project requests, tracking asset-related activity, and applying proper capitalization treatment.

Contribute to the annual budgeting process by preparing financial inputs, validating assumptions, and assisting plant leadership with planning.

Prepare audit support documentation, respond to information requests, and help address findings through process improvements and updated procedures.

Assist with annual standard cost updates, ad hoc financial research, and payroll approval activities as needed. Requirements • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance.

At least 2 years of relevant accounting experience, with 3 or more years preferred.

Practical knowledge of general ledger accounting, journal entries, account reconciliations, budgeting, and month-end close procedures.

Understanding of U.S. GAAP and familiarity with regulations affecting accounting, tax, and payroll activities.

Strong analytical ability with experience interpreting financial data, cost trends, and variance drivers.

Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Word, and accounting systems used for financial reporting and analysis.

Manufacturing accounting experience preferred, including exposure to standard costing or production-related variance analysis.

Ability to communicate clearly, handle confidential information appropriately, and work effectively with internal and external stakeholders.
