This is what you get to do:

  • Perform fire alarm inspections
  • Assist with fire suppression system inspections
  • Inspect/Repair fire extinguishers, emergency lights, exit lights, and other safety equipment
  • Perform field/bench repairs of fire/security alarm equipment and associated reporting hardware
  • Perform installation and modification of fire/security systems and associated equipment
  • Ensure compliance with SeaWorld and government policies regarding fire safety systems
  • Obtain/negotiate bids and quotes for contractor inspections/repairs
  • Oversee contractor activities and review documentation for renovations and new installations
  • Accompany government regulatory authorities/insurance representatives during inspections
  • Maintain/create required documentation for alarms equipment, personnel and procedures
  • Create/administer employee reviews
  • Provide guidance/administer discipline to shop personnel as necessary
  • Manage fire alarm shop budget and inventories
  • Schedule fire alarm system and fire suppression systems inspections/repairs
  • Maintain life safety equipment inspection schedules
  • Provide appropriate operations training to Security officers
  • Provide appropriate technical training to fire alarm technicians
  • Schedule working hours for fire alarm shop technicians
  • Day to day oversight of fire alarm technicians

What it takes to succeed:

  • Must be at least 18 years old
  • Must have a high school diploma or equivalent
  • Must have electronics trade school or equivalent military training with emphasis on electronics
  • Must have at least 1 year of practical electronics or fire alarm system experience
  • Must have a good working knowledge of multi-meters and other basic hand tools
  • Must be able to obtain FASA/BASA certification within the first 90 days of employment
  • Possession of a valid state driver’s license preferred (Required)
  • Working knowledge of all Microsoft Office applications preferred
  • Experience in repairs of Gamewell, Notifier and Simplex fire alarm systems preferred
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints and schematics preferred (Required)
  • Familiarity with NFPA codes preferred (Required)
  • Fire alarm contractor’s license holder and ability to qualify SeaWorld for fire alarm inspections/maintenance.
  • Ability to program SeaWorld fire alarm equipment including Gamewell, Notifier, Simplex, Bosch, and Manitou systems
  • NICET level two certification

What else is important:

  • Must be able to work at heights up to 40 feet using a ladder or high reach lift
  • Must be able to work in attics and other areas not designed for continuous occupation
  • Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds and push or pull up to 100 pounds
  • Must be able to work indoors/outdoors in all weather conditions and temperature extremes
  • Must be comfortable with exposure to noise, vibrations and motion
  • Must be able to train on and properly use protective gear
  • Must be comfortable working around fumes/dust/odor
  • Must be comfortable working around animals
  • Must be available to work varying shifts/hours based on business need, to include opening, mid-, and closing shifts; nights, weekends, and holidays
