Summary

About the Position: Fort Eustis, Virginia, is located in Newport News, between historic Williamsburg and Virginia Beach. Local Transportation via the Hampton Roads Transit (HRT) bus service to the surrounding area which includes Hampton, Norfolk, Portsmouth, Chesapeake and Virginia Beaches, York County, Gloucester, Suffolk, and Smithfield.

Duties

  • Serves as Security Assistance Training Specialist and primary point-of-contact in one of the following Security Cooperation training and education area
  • Plans, programs and monitors training programs that support international students (military and civilians) under Foreign Military Sales (FMS), or other training furnished by other government agencies.
  • Develops, in accordance with Combatant Commands and Security Cooperation Offices (SCOs) two year training requirements to meet the planning requirements prescribed by appropriate Department of Defense (DoD) and Department of Army (DA) regulations
  • Maintains DoD and organization databases and program records for the U.S. Army SA Training Program.
  • Prepares studies to identify the most appropriate methods for overcoming training deficiencies in foreign countries resulting from introduction of U.S. equipment or to respond to host country desires to improve their defense establishments.

Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience; if qualifying based on education, your transcripts will be required as part of your application. Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-11 grade level in the Federal service which includes work that involved: 1) Reviewing and implementing policies, training regulations, and procedures, related to international military training within the U.S. Army institutional training domain ; 2) Managing and coordinating unit-level (organizational) training programs; and 3) Participating in multi-discipline teams, (i.e. military, civilian and/or partner countries) in order to identify training priorities and develop near and long term training solutions that meet partner nation military training objectives. Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-11).

If you are a Federal employee in the competitive service and your agency has notified you in writing that you are a displaced employee eligible for ICTAP consideration, you may receive selection priority for this position. To receive selection priority, you must: (1) meet ICTAP eligibility criteria (2) be rated well-qualified for the position and; (3) submit the appropriate documentation to support your ICTAP eligibility. To be considered well-qualified and receive selection priority applicants must satisfy all qualification requirements for the position and receive a score of 90 or above. Male applicants born after December 31, 1959, must complete a Pre-Employment Certification Statement for Selective Service Registration. You will be required to provide proof of U.S. Citizenship. One-year trial/probationary period may be required. Direct deposit of pay is required. Selection is subject to restrictions resulting from Department of Defense referral system for displaced employees.
