The Montana Department of Revenue administers almost 40 state taxes, property appraisals, alcoholic beverage laws, cannabis laws, and unclaimed property for the state of Montana. The Information Management and Collections Division serves Montana citizens and businesses through processing tax returns, refunds, and payments timely and accurately, integrating improved technology to enhance the user experience, increasing electronic filing, resolving overdue debt, and collecting other state debt. DUTIES Job Overview: This position resides in theInformation Management BureauofDepartment of Revenue.The incumbent supports the department’s Records and Information Management (RIM) program by coordinating planning efforts, evaluating processes, and ensuring consistent implementation across the agency. Responsibilities include providing training and guidance to staff, assisting with record classification, and promoting agency initiatives to internal and external stakeholders. This role also contributes to the integration of records and information management practices within the agency’s broader data governance framework and monitors program activities to support continuous improvement. This position reports to the Information Governance Unit Manager and does not supervise other staff. /Knowledge of:/ * Business administration * Information systems management * Metadata principles * Taxonomy development * Data classification * Electronic content management * RIM industry trends, best practices, principles, and standards * Customer service methods and techniques * Program management and project planning * Documenting technical specifications * Data processing /Skills in:/ * Research and analysis * Technical troubleshooting and workflow design. * Risk identification and mitigation. * Collaboration and stakeholder engagement * Documenting instructions, FAQs, training materials and procedures * Accuracy and attention to detail * Conflict resolution * Microsoft programs and other database applications * Written, verbal, and interpersonal communication * Identifying system problems and resolving them /Ability to:/ * Demonstrate self-motivation * Lead group training and build stakeholder understanding of complex systems * Follow instructions * Interpret and apply regulations with precision and clarity. * Provide timely, customer service * Exercise discretion with confidential information. * Handling multiple priorities under deadlines * Organize tasks and adapt in a fast-paced environment * Develop technological responses * Deliver public presentations and training To be considered for any DOR position, applicants must complete and submit their application online and upload any required documents. This position would be required to report to a Department of Revenue office assigned by the supervisor. Employees must meet and sustain Department of Revenue telework eligibility requirements and supervisor's approval to participate in the DOR Telework Program. Fulltime telework is not available. Training Assignment: This agency may use a training assignment. Employees in training assignments may be paid below the base pay established by the agency pay rules. Conditions of the training assignment will be stated in writing at the time of hire. This agency is participating in E-Verify to confirm employment eligibility. EDUCATION / EXPERIENCE The minimum level needed on the first day of work is: * Associate degree or equivalent work experience in computer science, management information systems, business administration or related field, and * Two years of job-related experience with two year's experience in tax administration, performing detailed technical work, data processing, technical troubleshooting support role, application support, experience working with external clients and providing support for online applications, and documenting requirements for online or desktop software. * Other combinations of education and equivalent work experience will be evaluated on a case-by-case basis.
