Overview

At Catholic Health, we are dedicated to providing exceptional care to every patient, every moment. Good Samaritan University Hospital, a 537-bed teaching hospital and Level I Trauma Center, is seeking a compassionate and motivated Child Life Specialist to join our team on a per diem basis.

Job Details

Join a collaborate team committed o evidence-based care, continual learning, and improving the patient experience for children and families across Long Island.

Responsibilities

  • Provide psychosocial support to pediatric patients and families.

  • Utilize therapeutic play and developmental activities to promote coping and healing.

  • Prepare children and families for medical procedures and hospital experiences.

  • Support families throughout the child’s healthcare journey.

  • Maintain documentation and contribute to a safe, child-friendly environment.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Child Life, Child Development, Creative Arts Therapy, or related field required.

  • Eligible for Child Life Certification (CCLS) within 18 months of hire.

  • Completion of a 600-hour Child Life internship required.

  • BLS/CPR certification required. ( American Heart Association accepted only)

  • Strong communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills.

  • Pediatric healthcare and/or oncology experience preferred.

Salary Range

USD $48.02 - USD $48.02 /Hr.

This range serves as a good faith estimate and actual pay will encompass a number of factors, including a candidate’s qualifications, skills, competencies and experience. The salary range or rate listed does not include any bonuses/incentive, differential pay or other forms of compensation that may be applicable to this job and it does not include the value of benefits.
