The RoleAs the US Programs MHPSS intern, you’ll be integral to our work in helping vulnerable children achieve a brighter future. You will support the work of the US emergency response team support all phases of a disaster response; preparedness, response and recovery. This work focuses on supporting the mental health needs of children and their caregivers through tip sheets, trainings and curriculum. This internship will allow you to bring the latest best practices and research into updating and developing resources for communities impacted by disasters throughout the US.

What You’ll Be Doing (Essential Duties)*not inclusive of all role responsibilities. May be subject to change•Supporting the updating of core MHPSS trainings (Helping Caregivers Cope, Helping Children Cope, Strong from the Start, PFACC) with current evidence•Supporting development of new training modules (e.g., grief, trauma-informed care, localization of MHPSS)•Ensuring the latest research and best practices in psychosocial programming are integrated into trainings and curriculum•Mapping domestic MHPSS partners in disaster-prone or affected communities•Supporting MHPSS desk assessments in disaster contexts•Identifying conferences and dissemination opportunities•Assisting with training materials, facilitator guides, and learning tools•Other programmatic or research tasks as needed

Required qualifications for the role•Professional proficiency in MS Office suite - this is a fully remote internship, so Fellow should be comfortable communicating via email, chat and Teams•Professional proficiency in spoken and written English

Preferred qualifications for the role•Strong organizational skills and attention to detail•Strong written and verbal skills•Self-starter, with ability to work independently and collaboratively as part of a team•Strong interpersonal and teamwork skills•Experience with or interest in domestic (US) emergency response
