This is a fully-remote, ongoing contract opportunity ideal for a detail-oriented professional with experience managing public records requests, document review, records collection, and legal compliance matters within a law firm, government agency, municipality, special district, or other public sector environment.

This role offers the opportunity to work closely with attorneys and stakeholders to coordinate responses, review records, track deadlines, and help ensure compliance with applicable public records laws.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist with the intake, tracking, and management of Public Records Act (PRA) requests.

  • Coordinate with attorneys, departments, and subject matter experts to identify and collect responsive records.

  • Review documents for responsiveness, confidentiality concerns, and potential exemptions.

  • Organize, index, and maintain large volumes of electronic and physical records.

  • Prepare document productions and maintain detailed request logs.

  • Monitor deadlines and ensure timely responses to requests.

  • Conduct legal and factual research related to records requests and disclosure requirements.

  • Support attorneys with litigation, administrative matters, and special projects as needed.

Requirements

Qualifications

  • ABA-approved Paralegal Certificate required.

  • 3+ years of paralegal experience in a law firm, government agency, municipality, public entity, or similar legal environment.

  • Experience handling Public Records Act (PRA), Freedom of Information Act (FOIA), open records requests, or related records disclosure matters strongly preferred.

  • Strong document review, records management, and organizational skills.

  • Experience working with large document sets and electronic records databases.

  • Ability to manage multiple deadlines and competing priorities.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and legal document management systems.
