About the Role OpenLoop is looking for a Talent Acquisition Partner Lead to join our team remotely or at HQ in Des Moines, IA. Reporting to our Senior Manager, R&D Recruitment, you’ll own full-cycle recruiting for AI/ML and senior Engineering roles. As a senior individual contributor, you’ll also share your expertise to strengthen sourcing, assessment, and closing across the recruiting team. You’ll partner closely with technical leaders to understand hiring needs, map talent markets, assess candidates, and develop sourcing and closing strategies. You’ll bring deep knowledge of the technical talent landscape and the judgment to adapt your approach to each search, from evaluating senior technical scope to navigating compensation and equity conversations. Alongside your own searches, you’ll serve as a trusted resource for fellow recruiters, sharing expertise and providing practical coaching on sourcing, assessment, and closing. This role has no direct reports; you’ll lead through your expertise, collaboration, and results.
What You'll Do
-
Own full-cycle recruiting for a portfolio of R&D roles, with a focus on AI/ML and senior Engineering talent, from intake and sourcing through offer negotiation and closing.
-
Partner with technical hiring managers to define role requirements, calibrate level and scope, and develop targeted recruiting strategies.
-
Build talent maps and proactively engage passive candidates for specialized and hard-to-fill roles, using market research and creative sourcing approaches to reach diverse talent.
-
Stay current on the evolving AI/ML talent landscape and translate market insights into actionable sourcing, assessment, and closing strategies.
-
Conduct thoughtful recruiter screens that assess technical experience, scope, and impact; partner with hiring managers to tailor interview approaches to the role and candidate’s seniority.
-
Advise hiring managers on talent availability, market trends, and compensation expectations, partnering with the appropriate internal teams on offer strategy.
-
Guide candidates through compensation and equity discussions, clearly explaining OpenLoop’s packages and developing closing strategies that reflect their priorities.
-
Champion the candidate experience through transparent, timely, and respectful communication throughout the hiring process.
-
Proactively identify opportunities to strengthen the team’s technical recruiting capabilities. Share practical tools, market insights, and informal coaching while maintaining ownership of your recruiting portfolio.
-
Maintain accurate candidate and pipeline data in the ATS, use funnel insights to improve search outcomes, and contribute to recruiting process improvements.
-
Collaborate on job descriptions that clearly communicate technical scope, expectations, and candidate requirements.
-
Other duties as assigned.
Who You Are
-
An experienced technical full-cycle recruiting experience in a fast-paced, high-growth tech environment, including experience recruiting AI/ML and senior Engineering talent.
-
Deep understanding of technical talent markets, with the ability to distinguish candidates’ scope, seniority, and impact beyond titles and technical keywords.
-
Strong sourcing and talent-mapping skills, using ATS platforms, LinkedIn Recruiter, market research, and other recruiting tools to build targeted pipelines.
-
A track record of personally closing senior or hard-to-fill technical candidates, including navigating competitive offers and compensation and equity discussions.
-
Demonstrated ability to build trusted partnerships with technical leaders and advise on role requirements, assessment approaches, and hiring decisions.
-
Sound judgment about when to adapt a search or interview approach based on candidate experience, seniority, and market conditions.
-
Experience helping other recruiters improve through practical coaching, shared resources, or subject matter expertise.
-
A proactive approach to identifying capability gaps and offering useful support, with the ability to build trust through collaboration and results.
-
Highly organized and comfortable balancing a demanding recruiting portfolio with contributions to team effectiveness.
-
Resourceful and comfortable navigating ambiguity and making decisions in an evolving environment.
