Full job description

Jacobs is seeking a Water/Wastewater Engineer to join our Pensacola team serving clients across the Southeast. You’ll contribute to projects that support reliable water and wastewater services, working with civil, environmental, process, and other engineering disciplines. In this role, you’ll help develop engineering evaluations and design concepts, prepare preliminary and detailed designs, and support field engineering activities. You’ll work with colleagues in Pensacola, Miami, and across Jacobs, as well as with clients and other project stakeholders. This position offers the opportunity to take on a variety of project tasks and continue developing your technical and consulting skills.

Here's what you'll do

  • Support the planning, evaluation, and design of water, wastewater, and related facility infrastructure projects for municipal and other clients across the Southeast.

  • Perform engineering calculations, technical analyses, and preliminary evaluations under the direction of project managers and senior engineers.

  • Assist with the evaluation and design of water distribution and transmission systems, wastewater collection systems, pipelines, pump stations, treatment facilities, and associated site infrastructure, as applicable to project assignments.

  • Develop design concepts and contribute to preliminary and detailed engineering design, including calculations, sketches, technical memoranda, reports, drawings, and construction documents.

  • Support hydraulic and hydrologic modeling, system analyses, and related data review to help evaluate project conditions and design alternatives.

  • Assist with comparing design alternatives and documenting technical considerations, project constraints, and recommendations for review by the project team.

  • Prepare or contribute to plans, specifications, cost estimates, permit applications, and other project deliverables.

  • Review available records, survey information, field data, and existing facility information to support engineering evaluations and design development.

  • Coordinate assigned work with project managers, engineers, designers, technicians, and other disciplines to meet project requirements and schedules.

  • Participate in coordination meetings and communicate technical information clearly with clients, contractors, vendors, and other stakeholders.

  • Support client service by helping project teams respond to client needs, maintain effective working relationships, and deliver reliable project work.

  • Assist with construction-phase engineering activities, which may include reviewing submittals, helping respond to requests for information, documenting field conditions, and supporting resolution of design or construction questions.

  • Visit project sites and observe construction or facility conditions as needed; prepare clear field notes and documentation for the project team.

  • Apply quality procedures to assigned work, including checking calculations, drawings, and technical documents for accuracy and consistency with project requirements.

  • Participate in assigned tasks and take increasing responsibility for defined work activities as experience develops.

  • Follow health and safety requirements in office, field, facility, and construction environments, and contribute to safe project execution.

  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil, Environmental, Chemical, or a related engineering discipline.

  • At least 1 year of professional experience; internship experience is considered.

  • Strong written and oral communication skills.

Ideally, you’ll also have

  • Professional Engineer (PE) license in Florida.

  • Engineer in Training (EIT) certification.

  • Experience working on multidisciplinary project teams.
