Full job description

Description The Experience Missionforce is the high-growth business unit that brings Salesforce’s trusted AI, data, apps, and cloud technology to governments’ most critical missions around the globe.

We are seeking a Chief Operating Officer (COO) to serve as the operating partner to the CEO of Missionforce. This leader will build and run the operating system for Missionforce, including strategy execution, cross-functional alignment, and the rhythm of the business. The COO owns how the business scales, so that growth, delivery, and compliance are in alignment.

The COO will report to Missionforce’s CEO and be a member of the senior leadership team.

What You’ll Actually Be Doing

  • Design and stand up the operating model for Missionforce, including the systems, processes, governance, and team structures needed to scale. Establish the "how we run the business" playbook, and evolve it as the business grows.
  • Build repeatable processes for planning, forecasting, and reporting. Set up the tools, data, and metrics that give leaders a single view of performance.
  • Own the operating cadence, including planning, quarterly business reviews, OKRs and V2MOM alignment, and executive forums. Drive accountability for results across Sales, Product, Engineering, Services, Marketing, and Operations.
  • Turn the CEO's priorities and the Missionforce growth strategy into clear plans, owners, milestones, and metrics. Resolve cross-functional blockers.
  • Lead organizational design, headcount and resource planning, and talent strategy. Partner with Recruiting and ES to attract and retain cleared and mission-driven talent.
  • Partner with Finance on budget, forecasting, and investment decisions. Improve productivity, unit economics, and operating margin.
  • Work with sales, partner, and services leaders on pipeline health, deal strategy, program execution, and customer outcomes for large, complex public sector engagements.
  • Build compliance into how the business operates, ensuring adherence to federal, defense, and international requirements. Coordinate closely with Legal, Security, and Trust.
  • Serve as a senior voice with executives across Salesforce, as well as with customers, partners, and government stakeholders, as needed.
  • Build and mentor a high-performing operations team, and model inclusive, high-trust leadership.

You’re Our Person If…

  • 15+ years of progressive leadership experience, including senior operating roles such as COO, Chief of Staff, GM, or head of strategy and operations, in a large technology company.
  • Proven record of scaling a high-growth business or business unit, with enterprise-level complexity and P&L or financial accountability.
  • Strong executive presence. You earn trust quickly with C-level leaders, customers, and cross-functional partners.
  • Exceptional analytical, planning, and problem-solving skills, with a bias toward action and measurable outcomes.
  • Experience leading through ambiguity and building new functions, processes, and teams.
  • Strong project management skills, with the ability to prioritize and drive success across multiple large-scale initiatives.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills; able to convey complex ideas in a strategic and concise fashion.

Even Better If…

  • Deep understanding of the public sector, federal government, national security, or defense ecosystem, including how agencies buy, deploy, and operate technology.
  • Have a U.S. security clearance or the ability to obtain one.
