Job Description

Convergint is seeking a Security Project Technician to install, program, commission, test, and support electronic security systems for commercial and enterprise customers. This role is heavily project-focused and will be responsible for executing installations from startup through customer turnover, including programming, system commissioning, customer training, and closeout documentation. The ideal candidate has strong technical experience with access control and video surveillance systems and can independently manage project work in the field.

Responsibilities

  • Install, configure, program, and commission electronic security systems.
  • Perform system startup, testing, certification, and final customer turnover.
  • Read and interpret blueprints, schematics, wiring diagrams, and technical specifications.
  • Troubleshoot system hardware, software, and programming issues.
  • Configure and program access control, video surveillance, and integrated security systems.
  • Develop system graphics and perform commissioning activities.
  • Provide customer training and technical support during project implementation.
  • Work closely with Project Managers and Operations Managers to execute projects on time and within budget.
  • Identify project risks and escalate concerns proactively.
  • Assist with project documentation, closeout packages, and warranty support. Mentor less experienced technicians and provide technical guidance when needed.

Skills and Requirements

  • 3-5+ years of experience installing, programming, commissioning, and troubleshooting electronic security systems.

  • Experience with enterprise Access Control Systems, including:

  • LenelS2

  • Software House CCURE

  • AMAG

  • Genetec

  • Experience with Video Management Systems (VMS), including:

  • Genetec Security Center

  • Avigilon

  • Milestone

  • ONSSI

  • AXIS

  • Strong experience performing system startup, commissioning, testing, and customer training.

  • Strong programming and troubleshooting skills.

  • Ability to read blueprints, schematics, wiring diagrams, and technical documentation.

  • Experience with low-voltage installation and system integration.

  • Strong mechanical and electrical aptitude.

  • Experience using hand and power tools.

  • Strong customer-facing communication skills.

  • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.

  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications.

  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.

  • Valid driver's license with a clean driving record. High School Diploma or GED. Nice to Haves

  • Fire alarm and life safety systems experience.

  • Building automation systems experience.

  • Manufacturer certifications (LenelS2, CCURE, Genetec, AMAG, Avigilon, Milestone, ONSSI, AXIS).

  • State low-voltage or security licenses.

  • Experience leading installation teams or mentoring junior technicians.

  • Experience supporting large enterprise, healthcare, education, or data center environments.
