Position Summary

Early Development (gRED), within Early Clinical Development Informatics (ECDi), is seeking an experienced Software Engineer to design, develop, and optimize tools and platforms that accelerate clinical trial development and help bring life-changing medicines to patients faster.

In this role, you’ll work with engineers, analysts, and business stakeholders to turn complex requirements into scalable software solutions. You’ll contribute across the full software development lifecycle, building responsive applications, strengthening automated testing, and supporting cloud infrastructure and deployment practices.

Key Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to translate complex requirements into scalable, end-to-end software solutions.

  • Build and maintain responsive, intuitive user interfaces and applications using modern JavaScript and ReactJS.

  • Develop and maintain unit, integration, and end-to-end test automation using tools such as Playwright, PyTest, and Jest.

  • Support DevOps best practices by building and managing CI/CD pipelines with tools such as GitHub Actions or GitLab CI.

  • Provision, manage, and monitor AWS cloud infrastructure using Docker, Kubernetes, and Infrastructure as Code (IaC) tools such as Terraform or CloudFormation.

  • Participate in the full software development lifecycle in an Agile environment, including system design, coding, code reviews, and architecture planning.

Required Qualifications

  • Five or more years of software engineering experience focused on building and supporting scalable production web applications.

  • Proficiency in backend development with Python and frameworks such as FastAPI, Flask, or Django.

  • Proficiency in JavaScript (ES6+) and ReactJS.

  • Experience with AWS and modern DevOps and deployment practices, including Docker, CI/CD tools, and IaC.

  • Experience writing automated tests and working with modern testing frameworks for frontend and backend applications.

  • Effective use of AI-assisted development tools—such as GitHub Copilot, ChatGPT, or Cursor—to support coding, testing, and documentation.

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with a commitment to clean, maintainable, and testable code.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience building data-intensive applications that manipulate and visualize complex datasets.

  • Experience supporting production applications, including system monitoring, incident response, and infrastructure troubleshooting.

  • Experience designing and developing end-to-end automated test frameworks for complex production web applications.

  • Proficiency in SQL, including writing complex queries and optimizing database performance in systems such as PostgreSQL or MySQL.

  • Knowledge of industry data standards and regulatory requirements, such as 21 CFR Part 11, GxP, and HIPAA/GDPR.
