Full job description
Description We are looking for an experienced Attorney/Lawyer to support a regional title insurance organization in Linthicum Heights, Maryland. This position blends legal review, underwriting guidance, title evaluation, and selective claims involvement within a collaborative insurance environment. The role is well suited to someone who is detail oriented and can assess risk, interpret complex real estate matters, and advise agents and internal stakeholders with sound legal judgment.
Responsibilities:

Review residential and commercial title matters to evaluate insurability and determine appropriate underwriting decisions.

Provide practical legal guidance to agency partners and internal teams on title issues, risk exposure, and coverage questions.

Analyze title commitments, reports, and related documentation to identify defects, exceptions, and curative needs.

Handle a limited portfolio of significant title claims, overseeing legal assessment, strategy development, and resolution activities.

Support decision-making on complex real estate transactions by interpreting legal documents and assessing potential liability.

Collaborate with business partners to resolve escalated underwriting and title matters in a timely and compliant manner.

Recommend risk-mitigation approaches and policy language considerations based on transaction structure and title findings. Requirements

At least 5 years of experience in title underwriting, title claims, or sophisticated commercial real estate legal practice.

Strong working knowledge of residential and commercial underwriting principles within the title insurance industry.

Demonstrated ability to evaluate title issues, claims exposure, and legal risk with a high level of accuracy.

Experience reviewing and interpreting complex commercial real estate documents and transaction structures.

Ability to manage claims matters effectively while balancing underwriting and advisory responsibilities.

Excellent written and verbal communication skills for advising agents, clients, and internal stakeholders.

Licensed attorney in good standing, or ability to meet applicable legal practice requirements for the role.
