Full job description

Your first software role, backed by a company that exists to put new technologists to work.

SkillStorm prepares technology professionals for Fortune 100 companies and U.S. government agencies. Your first 12 weeks are paid, hands-on training built around real projects completed in teams. When training wraps, you deploy straight to an enterprise or government client, starting from your very first day there. You won't pay tuition, and this isn't a bootcamp. It's a salaried position with a defined route from "qualified" to "deployed professional."

Who we're looking for

This role is designed for people at the start of their technical careers: recent graduates, career changers who already have a technical foundation, and veterans and transitioning service members. If you have the fundamentals, the motivation, and want a structured way into enterprise software, keep reading.

How to qualify

You'll need the following:

  • A bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, IT, or a related technical field

  • At least 1 year of technical work experience

You'll also need a working grasp of programming fundamentals, including data structures, algorithms, databases and SQL, and object-oriented development in a language like Java or C#.

Every applicant who meets one of these paths gets an individual review for fit. Unsure whether you measure up? Apply anyway. Deciding that is our job, so don't screen yourself out.

What makes someone a strong fit

  • Sharp problem-solving and logical thinking

  • Clear communication, written and spoken, with both teammates and stakeholders

  • Eligibility to obtain a U.S. government security clearance

  • Willingness to relocate for a client placement

  • Legal authorization to work in the U.S. as a SkillStorm W2 employee (C2C arrangements are not available)

For veterans and transitioning service members

Structured training, a defined mission, clearance-eligible work, and relocation support: this model already matches how you operate. We want you in this pipeline and actively seek you out.

Your work after deployment

  • Develop and improve applications using your client's languages, frameworks, and tools

  • Produce clean, efficient, well-organized code that meets professional standards

  • Troubleshoot and resolve defects, and deliver technical support

  • Take part in code reviews, offering and accepting constructive feedback

  • Work with stakeholders to turn business requirements into technical specifications

  • Assist with testing and production deployments, and keep technical documentation up to date

  • Stay current on industry tools and practices through continued training

What you get with SkillStorm

  • A competitive salary, paid from day one rather than training you pay for

  • Enterprise-level technology training and certifications

  • Assignments with Fortune 100 companies and government agencies

  • Health, dental, vision, and life insurance, plus a 401(k)

Ongoing mentorship and support through training and into placement
