Play a critical role in supporting the financial health of a nationally recognized academic health system. This position is essential to ensuring patients receive the full benefit of their insurance coverage while helping UVA Health maintain accurate reimbursement for the care it provides.
As part of the Patient Financial Services Revenue Cycle team, you will manage complex insurance accounts, resolve claim issues, and work directly with payers to ensure timely reimbursement. This hybrid opportunity offers a unique combination of independent account ownership, meaningful problem-solving, and collaboration within a highly supportive team environment focused on service excellence and operational success.
The Role
As a Revenue Cycle Insurance Resolution Specialist, you will be responsible for a portfolio of outpatient accounts and play a key role in the insurance billing and follow-up process. Working within Epic and payer systems, you will investigate and resolve claim issues, ensure accurate insurance information, and help drive the timely collection of revenue that supports patient care across UVA Health.
In an average day, you will:

Review and manage insurance-related work queues, reports, and assigned accounts.

Verify insurance coverage and update patient account information within Epic.

Research and resolve claim denials, rejections, underpayments, billing errors, and payer-specific issues.

Communicate with insurance carriers regarding payment disputes, coverage questions, and claim status.

Document account activity, resolutions, and follow-up actions accurately and thoroughly.

Manage a high-volume workload while maintaining productivity and quality standards.

Escalate complex account concerns appropriately and collaborate with leadership and internal partners to reach resolution.

Support the timely recovery of reimbursement across a significant outpatient accounts receivable portfolio.

The pay range for this role is $17.66 - $35.32 hourly. Individual compensation will be determined by the selected candidate's qualifications, previous work experience, and/or education.
