Scope of Job

Responsible for planning, organizing, implementation, and managing advanced and/or institution-wide consultation in the areas of organizational development and training. Provide knowledge of functional procedures and best practices to meet University department needs in regard to organizational development and training.

Description of Duties

  • Provides guidance and recommendations to all levels of management, departments, and staff regarding organizational development and training.

  • Actively manages the development and delivery of organizational development programs to meet the current and future needs of the University.

  • Partners with HR professionals and other colleagues across UTRGV to deliver outstanding results.

  • Aligns training and development with other interventions including team building, group process consultation, meeting facilitation, change management, organization diagnosis and design/structure, process, and work design.

  • Serves as consultant in the areas of organizational development to Human Resources in support of all University departments.

  • Oversees and participates in the hiring, training, and evaluation of assigned staff.

  • Provides advanced-level organizational development consultation to department managers, directors, and executive-level management.

  • Researches trends in organizational development and designs and presents management development training curriculum for a broad-based targeted employee population.

  • Leads and directs the coordination, development, and presentation of workshops/classes designed to facilitate training programs and development activities.

  • Identifies project scope and oversees just-in-time training programs targeted for specific organizational needs.

  • Manages metrics instruments to evaluate the effectiveness of specific projects and operations.

  • Conducts organizational design reviews and assessments. Makes recommendations based on gathered assessment data to senior management.

  • Collaborates in HR management meetings and strategic planning.

  • May conduct departmental retreats and/or team-building activities.

  • Performs other duties as assigned.

General supervision from assigned supervisor.

Direct supervision of assigned staff.

Required Education

Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources Management, Organizational Development, or related field.

Preferred Education

Master’s degree from an accredited university.

Licenses/Certifications

None.

Required Experience

Five (5) years of professional experience in organizational development or professional development training.

Use of standard office equipment.

Working Conditions

Needs to be able to successfully perform all required duties. Office Environment; some travel and weekend work is required. UTRGV is a distributed institution, which requires presence at multiple locations throughout the Rio Grande Valley. Work is performed primarily in a general office environment.
