Labor and Delivery Registered Nurse (RN)

Setting: Healthcare Facilities

Job Type: Contract - Full Time

Pay: $66 / Hour

Hours: 40.00

Location: JB Lewis-McChord, WA

We are seeking experienced Registered Nurses (RNs) to provide high-quality, comprehensive nursing care within the Labor & Delivery (L&D) Unit. The RN will provide care to patients throughout the antepartum, labor, delivery, and postpartum periods, including patients with high-risk or complex medical and obstetric needs. This position requires strong clinical judgment and the ability to provide safe, compassionate care in a fast-paced, high-acuity maternal-child healthcare environment.

In addition to Amergis' standard benefits package we are also offering the following:

An additional $5.42/hour up to 40 hours/week

Up to 2 weeks accrued paid time off

This role requires a dependable nursing professional who can meet government qualification, credentialing, security, and onboarding requirements while working under a personal services arrangement. The ideal candidate will bring recent registered nursing experience in a primary care or occupational medicine setting, a current unrestricted RN license, strong clinical judgment, and a commitment to supporting mission readiness and high-quality care for service members and eligible patient populations.

Minimum Requirements:

  • Current, full, active, and unrestricted license to practice as a Registered Nurse

  • Experience: A minimum of one (1) year qualifying experience in the past two years as a Registered Nurse in Labor & Delivery Unit (L&D).

  • Degree/Education: Minimum of Associate’s degree in nursing. The school must be accredited by the Accreditation Commission for Education in Nursing (ACEN) and/or the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education (CCNE). For education outside the United States, only the Commission on Graduates of Foreign Nursing School reports are accepted (CGFNS), for overseas degree verification

  • BLS (American Heart Association)

  • ACLS (American Heart Association)

  • NRP

  • AWHONN Intermediate or Advanced Fetal Monitoring

Additional Requirements:

  • Must pass TB Test

  • Subject to a background/security investigation

  • Willingness to comply with vaccination requirements.

  • Pre-employment drug screening

  • US Citizen

  • Contract workers shall maintain good personal hygiene and present a well-groomed and professional appearance IAW the policy at the place of performance.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide comprehensive nursing care throughout Labor & Delivery, including high-risk obstetric care.

  • Provide antepartum care for patients generally greater than 18 weeks gestation.

  • Perform complex treatments, including IV push medications, complex dressing changes, and IV magnesium infusions, including medication titration when required.

  • Assess patients and recognize normal versus abnormal clinical findings, reporting significant changes to the appropriate provider.

  • Provide intraoperative/circulating nurse support for pregnant and postpartum patients.

  • Provide immediate post-anesthesia/postoperative care following surgical procedures.

  • Operate and monitor specialized monitoring, therapeutic, and resuscitative equipment.

  • Monitor invasive and non-invasive procedures and ensure equipment is functioning properly.

  • Monitor patient progress, document care in the electronic health record (EHR), and interpret laboratory results while reporting abnormal findings to physicians.

  • Coordinate care with Anesthesia, OB-GYN, midwives, and Family Medicine providers.

  • Provide appropriate patient handoff/report, including procedures performed, patient conditions, nursing interventions, responses, specialized care, and equipment needs.

  • Demonstrate knowledge of neonatal transitional care.

  • Participate in nursing reports, patient-care conferences, discharge planning, and multidisciplinary care coordination.

  • Follow established infection-control protocols.

  • Maintain professionalism, composure, and effective communication with patients and families, including during stressful or difficult situations.

  • Work within the RN's scope of practice and may be rotated throughout MAMC clinical areas as needed
