POSITION: Year-Round Part-time Library Assistant in Youth Services Department Start Date: September 4, 2026 Starting salary: $10.96-$11.30 per hour; includes paid leave and retirement benefits; FSLA Status: PT, 20 hours per week. Must be willing to work a flexible schedule including evenings and weekends. The Macon County Public Library is seeking a flexible, creative, and energetic candidate to fill a parttimeLibrary Assistant 1 position in the Youth Services Department. The ideal candidate for the LibraryAssistant will be a team player who can provide library services to meet the needs of the public. QUALIFICATIONS: - High School Diploma or GED. - Atleast one year of customer service experience is required. One year of library experience working withchildren is preferred. - The successful candidate should have a commitment to quality customer servicewith excellent communication skills. - Strong technology skills and experience working with a variety ofsocial media tools are a must. RESPONSIBILITIES: - Providing reference service for both childrenand adults, working the youth services desk, assisting patrons in locating materials and using the library catalog, providing readers' advisory service for children, shelving library materials and keeping shelves in order in youth services area. - The Library Assistant 1 participates in the planning and delivery of library activities and events for children, including activities in the community. - The Library Assistant 1 works cooperatively with staff throughout Fontana Regional Library to plan, implement, and evaluate long and short-term goals and objectives.
