Description
At Amazon, we are obsessed with customer trust. The Security Policy team supports this vision by developing, maintaining, and governing Amazon's enterprise security policies and standards — setting clear expectations for Amazonians and establishing the foundation for consistent, enforceable security practices across the company. We are seeking an experienced, self-motivated Security Industry Specialist who will help mature and scale our security policy framework.
We define the security policy landscape for Amazon, ensuring policies and standards are clear, actionable, and aligned with evolving threats, regulatory requirements, and business needs. Our mission includes driving policy quality improvements, enabling automated enforcement, and instilling a culture of security awareness across the enterprise. To accomplish this, we work with Amazon organizations to translate complex security requirements into practical, well-governed policy artifacts.
Amazon Security is looking for a Security Industry Specialist to join the Security Policy team and drive the development, governance, and continuous improvement of Amazon's security policies and standards. This role will own key policy domains, partner with cross-functional stakeholders to identify gaps and emerging risks, and lead initiatives to modernize how policies are authored, reviewed, and enforced. In this role, you will work with cross-functional teams of technical and non-technical stakeholders to define and operationalize policy strategy and interpret, communicate, and drive full lifecycle security policy projects. You will champion automation, AI/ML, and innovative tooling to transform traditional policy processes — enabling scalable, real-time enforcement and reducing manual effort across the policy lifecycle.
Key job responsibilities
-
Develop, author, and maintain enterprise security policies and standards that set clear, actionable expectations for Amazonians.
-
Drive policy quality improvements through structured review cycles, stakeholder engagement, and alignment with industry best practices.
-
Identify policy gaps by analyzing emerging threats, regulatory changes, and internal risk assessments, and develop new or updated policy content to address them.
-
Partner with cross-functional teams — including privacy, legal, compliance, and engineering — to ensure policies are practical, enforceable, and aligned with business objectives.
-
Lead initiatives to establish the foundation for automated policy enforcement, working with technical teams to translate policy requirements into machine-readable formats.
-
Identify and drive opportunities to innovate the policy lifecycle through automation, tooling, and AI/ML — reducing manual effort and enabling scalable, real-time policy enforcement.
-
Serve as a subject matter expert on security policy, providing consultation and guidance to internal customers navigating policy requirements.
-
Manage the policy exception process, including reviewing exception requests, assessing risk, and driving resolution.
-
Develop and deliver policy awareness and education programs to drive adoption and understanding across the organization.
-
Understand and manage cross-functional requirements to translate them into optimal policy solutions. Be comfortable with hands-on day-to-day problem solving and implementing quick and effective action plans to meet short- and long-term priorities.
