Purpose
Provide entry-level technical design support for mechanical engineering projects within the Oil & Gas sector. Assist engineers, designers, and project teams with the preparation and revision of design drawings, models, and documentation while developing a working knowledge of mechanical design principles, industry standards, and company procedures. Utilize computer-aided design (CAD) software to support the development of project deliverables and contribute to project success through accuracy, attention to detail, and collaboration. This role is expected to work under direct supervision while gaining experience in engineering design, project execution, and industry best practices.

Responsibilities:
-
Assist with computer-aided design (CAD) drafting and preparation of drawings, models, and schematics based on established standards, specifications, sketches, and vendor information.
-
Support engineers and senior designers in the development, modification, and coordination of project deliverables.
-
Assist with the preparation of mechanical equipment and piping layouts, drawings, and related documentation.
-
Learn and apply company, client, and industry drafting standards and design practices.
-
Participate in design reviews and incorporate feedback from project team members.
-
Support equipment sizing evaluations, data collection, and technical analyses as directed.
-
Assist with the development and maintenance of bill of materials (BOMs) and project drawing packages.
-
Coordinate with multidisciplinary team members to ensure design consistency and project alignment.
-
Perform quality checks on assigned work to ensure accuracy and completeness.
-
Maintain project files, records, and documentation in accordance with company procedures.
-
Support project scheduling and reporting activities by providing updates on assigned tasks and deliverables.

Participate in project meetings and contribute to team discussions regarding project progress and design solutions.

Complete assigned tasks under supervision while continuing to develop technical and professional skills.

Qualifications
-
Associate degree, technical certificate, or bachelor's degree in engineering technology, drafting, design, or a related field preferred.

Entry level position, zero to two (0-2) years of relevant mechanical design, CAD, or engineering support experience a plus.

Basic knowledge of CAD software and engineering drafting principles.

Familiarity with Microsoft Office Suite and related software applications.

Strong written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.
-
Demonstrated ability to learn new software, systems, and technical concepts.
-
High level of personal integrity and professionalism.

Ability to work collaboratively and build effective working relationships.

Physical Demands and Working Environment

Partially indoor professional office environment which may exposure to include bright/dim light, noise, fumes, odors, and traffic.

Partially outdoor work environment which may include exposure to adverse weather conditions, varying temperatures, excessive noise, and/or potential hazards.

Mobility around an office environment.

Frequent and prolonged use of standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines.

Mobility around a job/construction site to include walking, bending, crawling, climbing, squatting, or kneeling and wearing of required Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).

Frequent and prolonged use of data collection equipment and/or drones, necessitating walking the assigned study area to complete data collection over the course of several hours.

Primarily local travel during the business day, although some out-of-the-area and overnight travel may be required according to the needs of the business.
