Job Title: Test Technician
Job Description
The Test Technician develops and executes comprehensive test plans for vehicle systems and components, ensuring accurate data collection and clear documentation. This role involves hands-on vehicle testing in a variety of environments, detailed data analysis to identify performance issues, and close collaboration with cross-functional teams to resolve defects and improve product quality. The Test Technician also contributes to test methodology development, maintains and calibrates test equipment, and stays current with advancements in vehicle testing technologies.
Responsibilities

Develop and execute detailed test plans for vehicle systems and components, including powertrain, chassis, electrical, and electronic systems.

Select appropriate instrumentation, install and configure it on vehicles, and ensure the quality and integrity of recorded data.

Conduct vehicle testing on test tracks, public roads, and in controlled environments while following all applicable procedures and safety guidelines.

Analyze test data to identify, diagnose, and characterize performance issues, defects, and anomalies.

Document test results and findings in a clear and concise manner, including entering and tracking issues in Jira.

Provide well-supported recommendations based on test outcomes to improve system performance and reliability.

Work collaboratively with design, development, and manufacturing teams to troubleshoot and resolve identified issues.

Contribute to the development, refinement, and implementation of test methodologies, standards, and best practices.

Maintain, calibrate, and verify test equipment to ensure accuracy, reliability, and readiness for use.

Follow work instructions and schematics to support prototype builds, modifications, and test setups.

Stay current with industry trends, standards, and advancements in vehicle testing technologies and apply relevant knowledge to ongoing projects.
Essential Skills

Strong understanding of vehicle systems and components, including powertrain, chassis, electrical, mechanical, and electronic systems.

Proven ability to develop and execute comprehensive test plans for vehicle systems and components.

Hands-on experience using test equipment and instrumentation for vehicle testing and data acquisition.

Ability to read and work from schematics, work instructions, and technical documentation.

Strong troubleshooting skills for diagnosing electrical, mechanical, and electronic issues.

Excellent data analysis and problem-solving abilities, including interpreting complex test results.

Strong written and verbal communication skills for documenting findings and collaborating with cross-functional teams.

Ability to work independently with minimal supervision as well as effectively within a team environment.

Proficiency with data analysis tools used to process and interpret test data.
Additional Skills & Qualifications

Experience working with prototypes and supporting prototype builds and test activities.

Familiarity with automotive testing standards, including SAE standards, is a plus.

Experience with specialized testing methodologies such as NVH (noise, vibration, harshness), durability, and reliability testing is a plus.

Work Environment
The Test Technician works in a mixed environment that includes laboratories, workshops, test tracks, and public roads. The role involves hands-on work with vehicles, test equipment, and instrumentation, as well as time at a computer analyzing data and documenting results in tools such as Jira and data analysis software. Testing may occur in various weather and road conditions, and the position requires adherence to safety procedures and the use of appropriate personal protective equipment. The work environment is collaborative and project-driven, with close interaction with design, development, and manufacturing teams to support continuous improvement of vehicle systems and testing practices
Job Type & Location
This is a Contract position based out of Garden Grove, CA.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $30.00 - $38.00/hr.
Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
